Obama's endorsement of Biden may not count in his favour and may be a drawback since there are serious allegations of corruption in his administration that is still being investigated, The whole effort of the Democrats has been to ensure that the widely known misconduct is not being investigated,
As to the issue of having a senile person as President - this will just not work, In terms of the US Constitution the elected President is the Commander-in-Chief if the US Army and the VP has no role in that. Who will be the VP candidate? Maybe the DP wants Obama's wife as VP and that would cause even greater problems for them,
The DP is in a critical condition. Because of factionalism they have no real policies by which they could advance the interests of the ordinary people. The only thing they have in common is their hatred of Trump, That is why to take them seriously will be a bad joke.
You still seems to believe the crap about left wing and right wing policies, The fact is based on policy the Republicans can be regarded as center-rightwing with Trump being considered by right wing elements in the USA as too liberal in his approach, The Democrats has no real policy because of factionalism in the Party, They have basically the -
* Socialists embodied by the followers of Sanders who are in fact supporters of Communism without the normal tendency of Communist nationalism - the only faction in the USA that sides for instance with the Cuba and Venezuela Regimes and i s supported by Antifa, basically an anarchist group and their private army;
* The leftists Group comprising the Obama and Clinton faction whose policies are determined by the highest bidder and inherently corrupt; and
* The leftist element that is basically against the far-left Sanders faction. and not really at home in the corrupt faction.
The loudest group in the party is the far-left elements that has the support of Soros - but the latter also influences the corrupt faction through bribery and corruption and a determined effort to break down criminal prosecution in the USA, The Obama and Clinton faction is pro-China as was emphasized by Biden after a visit to China when he said "Get real - China is no threat to the USA", This group includes Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff as well - with Schiff being virtually employed by Soros and taking instructions from him.
Even though basically socialist in their approach the third faction can be compared to the leftist elements of the Labour Party in the UK - ie the socialist supporters of Jeremy Corbyn, This group has really no policy and is lead by the nose by the other two more organized factions,
The reason why the party establishment support the election from the Obama faction of Biden as candidate is that he is weak, virtually senile and manageable by the DNC. In the end the Obama faction will appoint the VP candidate and there are some real beauties amongst the candidates mentioned.
