Not good news for older people. The risk of hospitalizations is only halved for those who are vaccinated, if they are over 80….cut in a third for those in their seventies….in a quarter for those in their sixties.
This is from a massive UK data base, so undoubtedly reliable. The age skew is enormous ….more than 10 times as likely to be hospitalized if you are over 80 than in your 20s. So one might make the argument that the unvaccinated 30 year old is safer than the vaccinated 80 year old. But the vaccinated 30 year old is 10 times safer than the unvaccinated 30 year old.
These results are based on all hospital admissions in the UK for the month of September and normalized for incidence per 100000 people. . If you are at low risk, your risk is cut even more by being vaccinated. Older people have to be cautious, even if they are vaccinated.
