The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has officially closed its doors after President Donald Trump gradually dismantled the agency over its allegedly wasteful spending.

More than 80% of all the agency's programmes were cancelled as of March, and on Tuesday the remainder were formally absorbed by the state department.

The shuttering of USAID - which administered aid for the US government, the world's largest such provider - has been newly criticised by former Presidents Barack Obama and George W Bush.

These aid cuts could cause more than 14 million additional deaths by 2030, according to a warning published by researchers in the Lancet medical journal.

The authors of the Lancet report called the numbers "staggering", and projected that a third of those at risk of premature deaths were children.

A state department official said the study used "incorrect assumptions" and insisted that the US would continue to administer aid in a "more efficient" way, the AFP news agency reported.

Founded in 1961, USAID previously employed some 10,000 people, two-thirds of whom worked overseas, according to the Congressional Research Service.

The controversial cuts began early in Trump's second term, when billionaire and former presidential adviser Elon Musk was tasked with shrinking the federal workforce.

The move was widely condemned by humanitarian organisations around the world.

Among the programmes that were curbed were efforts to provide prosthetic limbs to soldiers injured in Ukraine, to clear landmines in various countries, and to contain the spread of Ebola in Africa.

On Wednesday morning, the agency's website continued to display a message saying that all USAID direct-hire personnel globally had been placed on administrative leave from 23 February.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously said that the remaining 1,000 programmes after the cuts would be administered under his department.

"This era of government-sanctioned inefficiency has officially come to an end," he added on Tuesday.

"Under the Trump Administration, we will finally have a foreign funding mission in America that prioritizes our national interests," he wrote in a post on Substack.

Trump has repeatedly said he wants overseas spending to be closely aligned with his "America First" approach.

Bush and Obama delivered their messages of condemnation in a video conference they hosted with U2 singer Bono for thousands of members the USAID community.

Bush, a fellow member of Trump's Republican Party, focused on the impact of cuts to an AIDS and HIV programme that was started by his administration and subsequently credited with saving 25 million lives.

"You've showed the great strength of America through your work - and that is your good heart,'' Bush told USAID workers in a recorded statement, according to US media. "Is it in our national interests that 25 million people who would have died now live? I think it is, and so do you."

Meanwhile Obama, a member of the opposition Democratic Party, affirmed the work that USAID employees had already done.

"Gutting USAID is a travesty, and it's a tragedy. Because it's some of the most important work happening anywhere in the world," Obama was quoted as saying.

Long-time humanitarian advocate Bono spoke about the millions of people who he said could die because of the cuts.

"They called you crooks, when you were the best of us," he told attendees of the video conference.

USAID was seen as integral to the global aid system. After Trump's cuts were announced, other countries followed suit with their own reductions - including the UK, France and Germany.

Last month, the United Nations said it was dealing with "the deepest funding cuts ever to hit the international humanitarian sector".

In 2019 Trump found out that the USAID program was utterly corrupt - there were no process in place that money was used for the purpose it was allocated, Aside from that there were kickback systems in place where both politicians and bureaucrats got kickbacks from allocations made, Trump then stopped all cash transfers to all countries worldwide and instructed the State Department and Treasury to come up with a system where porcesses that would ensure that Aid money was spent for the purpose it was allocatred and that the State Department ensure audits are done in respect of aid money grants to different countries wordwide, One of the main problem cases were Ukraine and Trump then decided that there would be NO cash transfers be done to Ukraine for weapons and that the US Govenment will buy the arms Ukraine needed for defense and sent the arms to Ukraine,

That resulted in screams from two of the most corrupt USA politicians - Pelosi and Schiff - they lost the kickback benefits they received - so they laid impeachment charges against Trump. The whole process was utter BS and eventually kicked out by the Senate,

After Trump departure the free-for-all system was back in place with a vengeance, In the period February 2022 to September 2022 the US Army provided $40 billion in arms collected from USA bases worldwide to Ukraine. In A Senate hearing in September 2022.the Defense Force General admitted that only 30% of te armaments provided to Ukraine ever reached the fighting army in Eastern Ukraine - the rest ended up in the widespread Armament Black Market, The US Defense Force representative reporting to the Senate stated that the Department has stationed a US Colonel in Kiev to stop the rot, Later on this Colonel was given another 200 soldies to help in carrying out the control over movement of arms to the Ukraine Army fighting the Russians in Eastern Ukraine,

The one uncertainty was whether even under Trump the weapons in fact provided ever reached the fighting Army in Eastern Ukraine, Of the money transferred to Ukraine half of the $1 billion grant went to a Ukraine arms prodicer firm oned by Stefanek, Since 2016 the other half of the $1 billion went crazy as well, Part of it was used to build a new bio-lab to replace the gain of function research at that stage conducted af the Wuhan Lab could be moved to Ukraine where the USA had motre direct control over the research system. When the Russians informed the Security Council of the existence of bio-labs in 2022 the lie was circulated by the State Department that there are Soviet era biolabs the US Government are helping the Ukraine Government in closing down - utter BS since there were the new bio-lab constructed in Odessa, and no biolabs were in fact closed since 2014 and the part of the USA in the research was that if the Russian army threaten the bio-labs the staff must destroy the pathogens - in acordance too specific USA instructions to the bio-lab staff in written instructions to each Ukraine bio-lab. Of the 27 biolabs in existence 3 was occupied by Russian soldiers. In one case the pathogens was not destroyed and after testing it was found they were 10 times more dangerous than the Wuhan Lab ever produced,

So back to the topic - the financial mismanagement by the Federal Government became a major problem insofar as the US economy is concerned. Spending money on current expediture by means of raising loans is a mortal situation for any country and the Biden expenditure of $10 trillion using loan financing is a crazy example of wht should not be done by any Government in the world, The sitution if allowed to continue would within the next five years would mean the Federal Government would have to reduce expenditure on any issue by 50% to meet the demands while increasing taxation by at least 100% to even repay the loan and interest.repaments.

That is one of the major problems the US Government caused and that is bound to become worse in future and that is what Trump is trying to get back to reality and not socialist dream world the Democrats wants. ,
