I was following the story for a while now and it became clear to me that the Democrats have now decided to go ahead with an investigation relating to impeachment. Politically that would open up an interesting set of hearings that would be fin to watch. The process in fact started already and the Democrats embarrassed themselves in the case of the first witness. This will be followed by others,
So why did the Democrats started the process? There are a number of reasons for that so lets try and identify those:-
1 The Democrats never accepted the election loss in 2016 and tried numerous times tp try and get rid of Trump from the word go. Despite hysteric support from elements in the media every effort this far failed. What really happened in the election and determined efforts to avoid Trump from winning were initiated and the origins of the Mueller Investigation are no coming out slowly. It I becoming evident that the role of the DNC and the Obama Administration in the process will be seriously problematic for the Democrats - so the need for the sideshow to turn away the attention of people from the actions of the Obama Administration and the DNC is important,
2 Trump said before the 2016 election that Clinton was corrupt - but the evidence on that was hushed up by the FBI, Even though the election was lost the Democrats still had their agents in the Justice Department to help them and help them they did through the appointment of Mueller as Special Council and ensure that his entire team are made up of Democrat supporters. The situation is now that is going to be extremely necessary to move attention away from -
* the Uranium 1 issue involving all of Obama, Biden and Clinton in alleged bribery and corruption - this was hushed up previously by the FBI and the Obama administration - but the danger is getting more seriously by the day that the matter will be reviewed and investigations intensified into the $145 000 000 subsequently paid by the Russians to the Clinton Foundation;
* The involvement of Biden's (father and son) in the corruption issue - another case covered up by the FBI - and now a key reason for the effort of the DP to divert attention away from that one;
* The payment of $1,5 billion by the Chinese to Hunter Biden for investment purposes - but there are serious rumours about the money being used to fund the 2016 election campaign of the DP and e need to keep Government away from further investigating that issue,
The next 2 questions are what are the chances of success in this case and what can Trump do about the issue?
The chances of success
1 Insofar as collusion with Russians is concerned in his campaign there is no chance that the Mueller Report will enhance their case. Any allegations of collusion will be dead and buried since Mueller could not prove it despite desperate efforts by him and his staff to prove it was unsuccessful.
2 There was no real evidence provided as to obstruction of the Mueller Investigation and even Mueller was practically given what he asked for and the hearings could not find evidence of anything other means of obstruction other than discussions with Trump and there was no resultant action factually taken to obstruct Mueller in his investigation and he admitted it when giving evidence I the House on his report.
3. The whistleblower story about the Ukraine issue is flimsy - so other than the leak to the Washington Post by an informant not present during the telephone conversation as to what Trump actually told the new Ukraine President is a non starter,
So where is the evidence to conclude that impeachment should proceed. Seems the only evidence that would come out is that he is being persecuted on political grounds and hat is not going to help the DP in their efforts. The Senate may not even start the next phase of the Impeachment Process and even if they do the chances of getting 67 Senate voptes needed is zero.
What can Trump and the RP do
There are various moves that can cause havoc for the DP in future.
1 Barr can appoint a Special Council to investigate the Uranium 1, the Ukraine issue and the Chinese investment issues that could be really be implicated the DP in serious bribery and corruption issues.
2 The RP members of the House could ask for documents and call witnesses that would cause real embarrassment politically for the DP, In the upcoming election year it could cause havoc for the DP.
3 Fact is that the while move could backfire on the DP.
The fun is going to be seen over the next six months or longer - so lots of enjoyment for a lot of people is coming up.
One wonders why the DP started a process that would harm them extensively in the upcoming election?
