The honeymoon period has certainly ended. It seems Musk is devastated that he is losing green energy subsidies. Trump says Elon has received more subsidies than anyone, and this has been a lot of his success. He said Elon may have to return to South Africa.

Musk went quiet for a while, but seems to popping back up to fight against the BBB. When he removed a lot of his anti Trump tweets he left up the one about creating his own political party, apparently he's still planning that and also planning to fund the rivals of any Republican who votes for the BBB in next year's mid terms, though it remains to be seen if that actually help or hinders those he could target.
Musk found out that MAGA's loyalty is too Trump not to him, but a person with that much money could still cause a lot of headaches for Trump.
To some degree, Tesla is importing Chinese technology and branding it as made in America and then collecting subsidies. Trump appears to be going after anything that is made in China, except his own branded products like Trump Mobile.
Elon, with his X megaphone, will create lots of problems for Trump, like claiming he is on the Epstein client list. Also debunking many of Trump's lies that he himself was happy to go along with until it impacted his own finances.
Was always dumb on Elon's part, pissing off liberals and left leaning people, the people who were considerably more likely to own or consider buying an EV/Tesla than the MAGA crowd.
