Russia has control of the air space around the dam and Ukraine isn't known to possess any missile system capable of destroying the dam. The video footage released also shows no sign of a missile strike. 

So control of the dam does not necessarily means the warmongers will blame Russia for it.

My advice is top watching CNN and stop reading the Guardian.        The dam is of major strategic importance to the functioning of the Crimea and of less  importance to Ukraine.   The do not gain much from it and they would do anything to harm Russian speaking people living in the area.

So it was pure coincidence that it blew up just as Ukraine launched its offensive and had already established a presence on some of the islands on the Dnieper river around Kherson. The Russian's blew the dam to enable them to shorten the front line and redeploy troops from Kherson to where the Ukrainian's are deploying the main weight of their offensive.

The do not gain much from it and they would do anything to harm Russian speaking people living in the area.

Russia has gotten at least tens of thousands of its troops killed in Ukraine and its invasion has killed far more Russian speakers in Ukraine than where killed in the 8 years since 2014-2022. It supresses any political opposition at home.

I never said anything about an offensive in Kherson Oblast. A large assault across the Dnieper River was generally considered unlikely, but the Russian's would still have to have kept substantial forces in the area to defend against it or even limited attacks. After all it would be the shortest route for Ukraine to the Crimea. Blowing the dam does the defending for the Russians and they can redeploy their troops they had there to other sectors the Ukrainian's are attacking.
