Old Fishnuts has previously assured us that religion would soon be a thing of the past and that smart young people are not buying the God hypothesis any longer... As it turns out, 8%  more young people in the USA are religious today than were in 2021. This on the back of all his claims that conservatism was on the decline and soon everyone would be voting for Democratic parties. Of course, what Fishnuts failed to account for is that conservatism from 50 years back as compared to its current incarnation are wildly different beasts. Where liberal ideas were common sense and pretty much adopted en masse by the world 40 years ago, including conservative politics, the left has continued on far past what is liberal, logical, and reasonable. As the pendulum has swung back, conservatives now find themselves much closer to the logical center while liberal politics quite obviously has shifted so far out to the left that normal people struggle to get behind them. Sex changes for children, censorship, and other ideas backed by liberals appear to be a bridge too far for the reasonable majority. The derision of religious practices and customs does not sit right with many in the population either. If old FishyPalms were a trader he'd believe bull markets could last forever and once in a bear market he'd swear to us that prices would never rise again. VisKop, science, maths, and common sense tells us that things always go up and down. Trends reverse and old habits become boring. This is not only true but also necessary in biology, economics and almost every other avenue of measurable data that involves living things. I've told you before, look up what Evolutionary Stable Strategies are. Do this, and I promise your skills of prediction will improve tenfold. " Surprising Surge Of Young Americans Turn To Religion The story of religious trends in America has been one of increasing disaffiliation among younger generations. But a new study reveals an unexpected resurgence of faith among youngsters in a post-Covid era. Some young adults had an awakening during Covid as the entire world crumbled around them. They were in search of a higher power to get through the government-forced lockdowns and controlled demolition of the economy, as well as watching loved ones and friends contract Covid-19 that some federal government agencies believe leaked from a Chinese lab. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, a new study commissioned by Springtide Research Institute found about one-third of 18-to-25-year-olds believe in a higher power, up from one-quarter in 2021. The findings were based on polling data from December. The story of religious trends in America has been one of increasing disaffiliation among younger generations. Believing in God "gives you a reason for living and some hope," said Becca Bell, an 18-year-old college student from Peosta, Iowa. Could the years of rising religious disaffiliation among Americans have finally hit a plateau?" Shows you, no matter how advanced and smart we become, when things go wrong, people have an innate propensity to turn to higher powers for comfort. And that has nothing to do with whether such powers actually exist or not but rather about a mindset that offers comfort and community. If Fishnuts had his way, he'd forcibly remove this reprieve. Pretty embarrassing, to continually deride something that so obviously offers peace of mind to many.

...and the bible is still the best selling book and most read to date by a country mile than any other. A non Christian source link :

What Are the Most Read Books in the World of All Time? - Capitalize My Title

That's because it's a message of life not death and the Word became Flesh and dwelt amongst us, full of grace and truth.

They talk as much tripe as they like but the proof of the pudding is in the eating of it.

It is always those that never want to apply or see or study that make the most noise.

Empty barrels make the most noise.

Great Minds Discuss Ideas. Average Minds Discuss Events. Small Minds Discuss People. - Personal Excellence

You cannot, debate, reason with such...they serve their master, the principalities of this world.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, Above all, taking the shield of faith, where with ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching there unto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”

Nonsense ButtPlug... Look at sources like PEW research, and other credible sources.

https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2022/09/13/modeling-the-future-of-religion-in-america/

The article you quoted was written by a Christian

https://www.wsj.com/news/author/clare-ansberry

Millennials were the least religious group until Generation Z. (This is all over the world - even with other religions). Then generation Z is even less religious. By the time Generation Z have kids, their kids will be even less religious.

Fewer kids are exposed to brainwashing by the church at a young age so, the process is accelerating.

The religious base is mostly rural and less educated that their city counterparts .

Why don't these bible-bashers just pray for more people to become christians?

I mean . . . duhhhh!

You want to spread the word of your god, right? You believe in the power of prayer, right?

So what's the problem? I don't get it. Are you too busy praying for Putin to kill more Ukrainians?

Someone could get comfort from believing in Santa - that does not mean it is good (unless they are 3 years old)

Ai, old FishNuts remains the board's premier plank.

Here is the link to the article by Tyler Durden(A Fight Club pseudonym before you make another blunder ), where he uses the same source as the WSJ article and mentions the WSJ article. His site is Zero Hedge which predominantly focuses on finance and economics.

And here is a link to the institute that conducted the study...

https://www.springtideresearch.org/

Kindly show me where/how you found evidence as to Durden's Christian beliefs...or just admit that you panicked, Googled and made a rushed and stupid response.

I know man, it annoys you when others find comfort in places where you can't.

Plank in the gym, if ever you manage to get off your fat arse...but don't plank in here.

Forgive me if I am being stupid but if 66.666% of 18-25 year olds are non religious surely that means Christianity is still declining if the non believers continue to be non believers through out their lives.

Currently Americans that identify as Christians sits at 63% so 33.333% is a far lower number coming through.

Would you care to explain to me how these numbers correspond to the number of believers to increase beyond 63% or are you claiming that the 8% increase will continue every year. If so can you show the data to support this.

A quick google suggests in 2000 80% identified as Christian so the trend over the last 22 years shows a rapid decline in numbers of believers and the increase of 8% is nowhere near enough to turn this around.

When the world is depressed and people are desperate and unhappy with themselves - like happened in Communist countries in the past ie the USSR and East Europe regimes - the people turn to religion as a means to escape from oppression.

So I published a Kew released findings on the present state of thinking of US citizens and 72% of the people express negative thoughts on the future of the USA - both political and economical - the plank and his co-plank had no comments on it.   Part of the fact is the media created a new "religion" the idiots believe in totally has brought about a depression in the minds of people.

The worst planks on site constantly spread their hatred of traditional values - which includes patriotism and religious values - as totally unacceptable and their hatred of Trump - not an example of real human value-systems - realized what is happening and himself adopted the value-system driving most people into despair.

The planks hate peace  and drive warmongering  on site and they call it all kinds of things bar what it really is.   They call everything science and found it impossible to differentiate between real science and propaganda science used for preaching leftist policies.     The only science they are interested in is the policies driven by the leftist media and even in those they refuse to realize the bs they are being taught by the media.

Anybody opposed to their idiotic believes are uninformed morons who do not believe in "science" - but the question really is are they not the unthinking kind that believe 100% in BS spreading.  Like Hilary Clinton - who claimed she has "direct access to Putin's inner sanctum - it appears now the media has that same direct access to Putin's inner mind.   Site idiots believe that totally. - same as they believed totally the Russian Hoax the media lied about for at least 6 years and the hate-campaign developed by the media against all Russians is in their cases unlimited.   The same applied to Covid and they fell 100% for the total fish market origin of the Wuhan virus.

It is really unbelievable how idiots spread ideas on site based on their adoration of leftism in the media .
