Alina Chan, is a specialist in gene therapy and cell engineering at MIT and Harvard. She spoke at a the recent select committee in the UK on the origin of COVID.
I’ll paraphrase something that she said….
“…The WHO organisation walked into a room with some scientists from the Wuhan Lab where CCP government officials were also present and asked the scientists “Did you do it?…The scientists said they didn’t and that that was the end of the line of enquiry as concerned a lab leak of COVID being the origin of the pandemic. This is not scientific.”
Seems strange, no?
If it is true, would you say that there may be a pertinent question or two to ask?
I wonder if you could figure out what those questions should be?

Note in the below article, something that I also pointed out early in 2020 - terrorist groups are likely paying close attention to what has transpired with COVID.

"It might be five years from now, it might be 50 years from now, but we live in an era where there is so much data being collected and stored that it will eventually come out."
Matt Ridley, who co-authored Viral on the origins of the pandemic with Dr Chan, also said a lab leak was now the most likely origin - and urged investigators to find out in order to prevent the next pandemic.
The science writer told MPs: "I also think it’s more likely than not because we have to face the fact after two months we knew the origins of SARS through markets.
"After a couple of months we knew MERS was though through camels. In this case, after two years, we still haven't found a single infected animal that could be the progenitor of this pandemic, and that’s incredibly surprising."
Some scientists have also argued Covid was genetically modified by humans - with one claiming it was "ready made" to infect humans when the virus first emerged in Wuhan.
Dr Chan told MPs: “We have heard from many top virologists that a genetically engineered origin of this virus is reasonable - so it's worth investigating - and that includes virologists who made genetic modifications to the first SARS virus.
“We know now this virus has a very unique feature, called the furin cleavage site, that makes it the pandemic pathogen it is. So without this feature there is no way this virus would be causing this pandemic.
“A proposal was leaked showing that EcoHealth and the Wuhan Institute of Virology were developing a pipeline for inserting novel furin cleavage sites - these genetic modifications.
"So, you fund these scientists who said in early 2018 ‘I’m going to put horns on horses’ and at the end of 2019 a unicorn turns up in Wuhan city.
"It's a striking coincidence that needs to be investigated."
'BAD ACTORS'
Mr Ridley added: "We need to find out so we can prevent the next pandemic.
"We need to know whether we should be tightening up work in laboratories or whether we should be tightening up regulations related to wildlife markets.
"At the moment we are really not doing either.
“We also need to know to deter bad actors who are watching this episode and thinking that unleashing a pandemic is something they could get away with.
“We know now that experiments were being done at Biosecurity Level 2 in Wuhan that resulted in 10,000 times increases in infectivity of viruses and three or four times their lethality.
"The important thing is to stop doing these experiments that are risky.”
Meanwhile, Richard Horton, The Lancet editor-in-chief, said the lab leak was "a hypothesis that should be taken seriously and needs to be further investigated".
But he told MPs he agreed with the previous conclusions from the World Health Organisation that it was "extremely unlikely".
Dr Chan and Mr Ridley said they both believed the lab leak was an accident - rather than deliberate.
The experts had already warned that terrorists who are considering using bioweapons will have noted how quickly China was able to dismiss the idea of a lab leak - and avoid scrutiny.
It means militants will now know how easily they can "get away" with the release of a cataclysmic bioweapon, knowing the source of the attack will likely never be found.
China has repeatedly stated it is not responsible for the global pandemic and dismissed accusations from those who say the virus was manipulated by humans.

The editor of one of the world's most prestigious medical journals has admitted it took more than a year to declare the conflict of interests of a scientist who denounced the Covid lab leak theory and called anyone who questioned the official Chinese narrative a conspiracy theorist.”

The move is claimed to have shut down any debate over whether the virus could have escaped from a lab last year. But the zoologist, a Lancastrian who now lives in New York, had ties to Wuhan Institute of Virology stretching back 15 years.
During a grilling from MPs on the Science and Technology Select Committee on Wednesday, Dr Horton was forced to defend the 16-month delay before Dr Daszak's important conflicts of interest were finally published in a memorandum in the journal this June.
Dr Horton, who was honoured at The Great Hall of the People in Beijing's Tiananmen Square in 2008, to mark an 'unprecedented' collaboration between Peking University and The Lancet, admitted to MPs: 'A hundred per cent, I completely agree, the information that we published in June as an addendum should definitely have been included in the February letter.'
But he told the committee it took longer than a year to persuade Dr Daszak to formally record his links with China.
The Lancet editor said: 'We ended up having a debate with him about, well, do you have a competing interest or not?'
Dr Daszak argued that he was an expert on bat coronaviruses in China, with a view that should be listened to. Dr Horton said: 'It took us over a year to persuade him to declare his full competing interest, which we eventually did in June of this year.'
The journal editor was accused of doing 'too little too late' by Conservative MP Aaron Bell, who also questioned whether the controversial original Lancet letter had 'served to close down scientific debate'.
On why Dr Daszak's links with Wuhan Institute of Virology had not been checked, Dr Horton said: 'We ask everybody who submits a piece that's accepted for publication in The Lancet to declare their competing interests, and we take those statements on trust.”
“ 'And in this particular case, regrettably, the authors claim that they have no competing interests, and of course... there were indeed competing interests that were significant, particularly in relation to Peter Daszak.'
The Lancet established an office in Beijing, in addition to its New York office and London headquarters, in 2010.
In 2015, Dr Horton travelled to Beijing to receive the Friendship Award from China – the highest honour awarded to 'foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to the country's economic and social progress'.
He claimed China faced a 'blame game' over the origins of the pandemic, despite admitting that it had denied the World Health Organisation access to crucial information needed for an investigation into the cause of the outbreak.
Leaked emails earlier this year revealed it was Dr Daszak who drafted the Lancet letter dismissing non-natural causes of the pandemic, such as a lab leak, as conspiracy theories.
As president of the EcoHealth Alliance, a not-for-profit organisation researching emerging infectious diseases, he asked colleagues to sign and 'circulate it among some eminent scientists'.
On the 'debate' with Dr Daszak over his conflicts of interest, Dr Horton told MPs: 'It's quite an interesting debate, because his view was, look, I'm an expert in working in China on bat coronaviruses.
That isn't a competing interest – it actually makes me an expert with a view that should be listened to. Our take was, well, in the court of public opinion, that is a competing interest you should declare.'
Dr Horton faced comparisons with The Lancet's notorious publication of a paper linking the MMR vaccine to autism, by disgraced academic Dr Andrew Wakefield, which was only retracted 12 years later.
Labour MP Graham Stringer said: 'Was nothing learnt about trust in The Lancet from the experience with Wakefield?'”

The whole point of these conspiracy threads is to imply that China (or CCP) intentionally created Covid to be released upon the world. (Without creating the anti-dote to protect themselves).
While it may have escaped from a lab, this is not the only possibility for the origin of Covid.
Unfortunately, the truth may never be known because proof may never emerge. Just like some crimes go unpunished due to lack of evidence, innocent until proven guilty.
Just because everyone does not insist the virus was intentionally created by China, does not mean they support any of the actions of the CCP since Covid was first identified as a transmissible disease.
From day-1 China was slow to report this to WHO, and every action since then has been about protecting the CCP. Their actions have been like a guilty person, but even if they were not guilty, they would probably have still acted like this.
The CCP are bastards, and unfortunately the Chinese and the world are stuck with them.
The mainstream media has industry-leading scientists that use logic and provide data to support their point of view. Democratic people who want facts to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Authoritarian people (e.g. conspiracists, some Christians) are more like the CCP.

The great democratic academic that was balls deep in all of this with Daszak since before the pandemic even began and then did his part to sing “conspiracy” along with Dazsak when it was required? BECAUSE HE NEEDED TO COVER HIS OWN ASS TOO.
Or are you talking about the wonderful and very smart democrats the equated wanting to investigate the lab leak hypothesis with racism? Literally virtue signalling while the world was in crisis.
You know now the extent to which WHO’s “investigation” into the lab leak hypothesis was a sham and unscientific. Yet, I bet you still don’t have the balls to admit that Trump was correct in calling them out for it. He was one of the very few that was honest and brave enough to do so.
If dickheads like you weren’t so quick to want to shout science at people, while being completely unable to separate actual scientific method from self interested lies masquerading as science, then we’d be much further along in understanding the virus and likely could have saved many more lives.
The facts are simple. At no point, until the virus origin was discovered, should either of the competing theories for its origins have been called a conspiracy. I’ve told you that since day 1.
I told you…and I warned you.

I’m beginning to think this research was being done by China, in collaboration with the US.
I think it may have been moved to China when regulations changed in the US.
If China weren’t the only ones responsible, but rather collaborating with the US, then it would explain why the West so easily let them off the hook.
For China it would be a massive embarrassment to the CCP and in the US it would likely have resulted in Trump being re-elected. Neither of which could be allowed at any cost.

Yeah…he did try to muddy the water by claiming that he said the intentional lab leak was what he was referring to as a conspiracy.
However, it was the general idea of it leaking from a lab that he called a conspiracy, numerous times, previously.
I now see that he’s conveniently switched his opinion and stated that we don’t know whether it originated naturally or from a lab.
…while of course topping it off by seemingly claiming that I’m religious.

You are a conspiracist- you don't need proof.
Tabloids publish stuff about the virus being from a lab - but there is no proof.
One minute it is China, next it is America working hand in hand with China to create the virus.
Just like 9/11 was an inside job, just like how Aliens are amongst us- but hidden by worldwide governments. Just like Trump winning the 2020 election, despite proof the election was secure and accurate. Just like Planet Meton, etc, etc. Bill Gates created the vaccine to kill the world (Although you did eventually get vaccinated, so you can't really take the anti-vaxx argument anymore..)
You want to believe conspiracies. Why? Probably because mainstream culture is changing, and you are not moving with the times.
While the lab theory is not ruled out, I lean towards the virus being natural transferred from an animal- because this is what happened in the past.
I will revise my opinion about the lab leak theory if solid proof emerges.
I dont accept the whack job idea this was done by China intentionally- because a country would create an anti-dote if they did this. This is the idea that conspiracists want to believe.

Interesting, I don’t remember saying that.
What I do remember saying was that it was important to figure out whether it came from a lab or an animal and that calling either one of those possibilities a conspiracy is both unscientific and suspicious.
