I had nothing more than a stiff arm the day after that I got my first shot, lasted for about a day or so and its been fine since.

I had a lot of side effects. The usual flu type symptoms for about ten days but I also had Covid Arm; an allergic reaction in the skin to the vaccine. It was very painful and itchy.

There was an upsurge in the number of cases in the Municipal area where I live.   In December there were 74  active cases - at present there are 200 of those.   The Municipal area has a population of  circa 65 000 people - so it is not  a major problem at  this stage yet.

I was in hospital for 12 days in April with the Virus (5 days in ICU) and 7 days in a ward isolated.

Released on the May 3rd and spent a further 7 days in isolation at home plus my wife was isolated with me.

I do not remember a single second of being admitted and only recall being transferred from ICU to isolation on day 6.

Fortunately I am active and walk between 8 and 10 Kms /day which kept my lungs strong and according to the Doctors that is what saved me.

My oxygen levels were around 88% on admission which is on the verge of no return but due to me being active my lungs responded with the medication administered and rose to around 92-95%.

On release from hospital I had to follow a set of breathing, walking and sit up routines for 21 days to help strengthen my lungs and circulation assisted with prescribed medication.

Even now my breathing is limited to an extent and my strength is not what it was.

But we as a family have decided not to have the shots as we have seen and heard about to many folks with health issues as a result of the vaccines.

We could be wrong but I hope not.

Pray, hope and stay away from crowds and still wear our masks is about all we can do.

If the Harvard Study is correct and only 1% of adverse events have been reported than in only 6 months 700,000 people in the USA have died of the vaccinations (The expected reporting of adverse events is said to vary from 1% to 10%. (Just why Harvard's conclusion is not accepted I don't know). However the Medical experts giving the warnings think the real problem lie down the road, about 2 years from now.

But regardless, why take an experimental gene therapy when your risks are so low and so many medical experts are speaking out against the vaccines. *      Both China and the WHO lied about the seriousness of the situation - but when  Trump got real info - he banned people - other than US Citizens from travelling from China - to enter the USA - the Democrats screamed that he is a racialist for doing what he did.

Lets get back to the virus  injection I received day before yesterday.   I felt no side a ffects on Wednesday - but yesterday was bad  - my body full of aches and pains - but it wore off and today I feel fine.

Canterbury - parts of the country was rarely affected by the virus,  but the situation  in the cities are bad.   In the Municipal area a where I live   with the previous increase in infections in  December there were 74 active cases   in the area with a population of circa 65 000 residents..   The present spread is 234 active cases  (an incre4ase of 34 in four days since Monday) showing that the delta variant is easier spread than the previous variants,     It is hell the way we are forced to live at present in SA  - we live like prisoners in jail in our own homes.     Can only occasionally go to shops  or the bank.   My brother stays about  1 kilometer from my home - in the past 18 months I saw him three times and only paid them 1 visit.   I saw my friend Frans Malherbe senior - the father of the Springbok prop - only twice in the same period. 

I am afraid that the Lions series is in jeopardy - would not be surprised if it is cancelled before the tests starts.   That would add to our misery.      . The only thing of interest I am busy with is a silly experiment of how to cultivate Blue Roses.        .

I will tell you if the effort is successful.    We will have to wait and see whether it works first.  I understand scientists in the USA has actually succeeded in producing blue roses plants and are selling plants for $250 000 per plant.       .

Maybe it is a silly idea - we will have too wait about 3 months to find out whether we have any results..  If there is none  - I may have embarrassed myself.

The first  six cuttings we treated  was of White roses and the wood of the cuttings have turned blue in two days time.    Now the cuttings will go in a pretreated soil combination on Monday and that will show within about three weeks whether it will work once the cuttings hopefully develop roots  and leaves.   The one cutting is already developing a leaf and it seems to have a greenish - blueish  tint.    Promising initial signs - but will the cuttings develop roots and  leaves  and thus start growing?   That we will have to wait and see.- and it will take time to develop roses - probably by December -January.   .
