Western Cape - Independence

I was in the Western Cape this past weekend and I heard that the very latest poll results, showed that 68% of the respondents to the poll, support a referendum on Western Cape independence.

The results of a previous poll question, which was, "Do you believe your quality of life will improve with Cape independence.

The respondents in favour were.

Coloureds - 80%

Blacks - 39%

Whites - 72%

The percentage of party supporters who support Western Cape independence are ...

DA - 69%

ANC - 18%

VF - 4%

Good - 4%

From what I understand..... it would be similar to how the different states in the US work.....in that the different states have their own individual tax laws, drinking age laws ..... driving license laws, legal laws etc etc .... but they still form as part of the USA

Such would be the same for the WC.

Support for WC independence trend.... is

2020 - 36%

2021 - 46%

2023 - 58%

Support for WC referendum trend.... is

2020 - 47%

2021 - 58%

2023 - 68 %

We need to be rid of the ANC completely...complete secession would be ideal, but that won't fly ...

Yep, and that is actually what has also put the ANC into a bit of a corner with this..... because the ANC cannot really appose any possible secession for the Western Cape, because they have fully promoted and endorsed the exact same secession in other countries... so they would look incredibly stupid..... or in my opinion... they would look like they usually do

There is no people in that location, so there is no infringement on freedom as it is understood by liberals, a collection of coloured, quotas and white people do not form a people.

There is no right to self determination. Who the coloured are, it is probably a mixed bag of anything that is not white or quota. Nothing like a people.

White people are alien to the african continent and never settle in.

The only segment that might claim to be a people may be quota people and yet. Depends on who they are.

So where else this kind of stuff was endorsed.

By liberal tenets, only populations characterized as a people have a right to self determination.

The population in Cape Town does not fit the requirement. A referendum limited to Cape Town would be mob rule.

A referendum on country level is the only relevant and in accordance with the rule of law.

Hope we seceed. Economically it would I hear be very beneficial. ANC government has been poor.

We would need to secure our borders from people fleeing the failed SA state of course. 

Northern Cape could join us.

Hi Draad, Just got back from SA. Wasn't a holiday, spent time with my family and made my final goodbye's.......see more sense in that than going over there to stare at a coffin.

Trust you are well, enjoy the WC which I think is wide open.

The Boks have a good a chance as any but the French vs AB opener is going to tell us a lot more.

That is an African hope.

In fact, all African countries including SA hope it happens, especially if it happens as it is hinted  in the OP.

And many other countries around the world.

The major point of resistance would come from liberal white countries that have drawn borders around the world to organize globalization to their own benefits. They are the ones opposing the world reorganizing as it threatens their supremacy.

As to Cape Town's prosperity, it is achieved as a trade hub. At the moment and for some time on, wealth is redistributed around the world along a north south axis, Cape Town collects wealth that is funnelled down from upper Africa (funny, Africa is shaped as a funnel)

Piece of news: redistribution of wealth is shifting and moving to an east-west axis.

Good bye Cape town prosperity. And this without the area seceding which would speed up the reorganization of the world.

So this is the obvious idea. A kind of Hong Kong solution, let constructive opportunities flourish segregated from the chaos of the rest.

But it puts a great shining light on the rest…so the ANC will fight this tooth and nail.

The time for this was in the 1960s, but it was never going to fly then because the Nats from the Transvaal and Free State would never have gifted the crown jewel. Same concept really.

But the Cape could have been the Noah’s ark, where a constructive multi racial society could have prospered. It would have required universal franchise for all residents, a rejection of Apartheid and free speech. If that was done early enough that could have worked. But once the ANC sensed they had the whip hand, basically after Angola, the idea was dead.

It’s dead now. The blame lies with the Vorsters, Malans  etc men with no vision.
