With corruption and incompetence by government on the rise in SA and service delivery on local level being grossly rejected the people is unhappy with the ANC Government.

over the years there seems to be a change in perception of the ANC  Government and many black elderly people said they were unhappy with the previous regime, but they were happy with service delivery and competence displayed at the time.

However, the latest Municipal Elections showed an alarming trend - of the  circa 26 million registered voters only just over 8 million showed up to vote.    Unlike in previous elections the ANC lost huge support - in previous elections they got circa   72^ support in the 1994 election - dropping to 62%  in 2014.    In 2016 local Government elections  they still managed to get 59% of voter support.   This year it was down to 45,6%

However, the outcry about poor service delivery and corruption has now spread to younger people who are now making the same claim as the elderly used to state.   The next general election is in 2024 and if the ANC continue likr they did in 2021 the present ANC Government would have to look for Coalition partners to survive.    ,

Never fear Mike they will most likely revert to the "Biden" way of counting votes next time round.

Can you just see the ANC scanning death notices to secure votes and treble counts..........

All is legal in Africa and the USA I'm afraid.

Time to get out boys.

Run from the sinking ship.

Don't come here.

The Constitutional Court in SA  is strong in defense  of the SA Constitution - the Court frequently ruled against Government on key issues - while mail-in ballots and vote harvestng is forbidden by law.     The media n the main are critical of Government when it comes to corruption  and poor administration.

Prior voting is possible and strictly controlled.   When it is impossible to vote  on election day the voters - eg in old age homes and hospitals - and others away from their place of registration  - voters can apply to vote in advance and such applications are routinely approved.   An election official accompanied by party agents then visited the voters concerned to collect the vote or must vote at  a ballot center - where party agents are also present.   Voters have to produce proof of residence and produce their ID document when registering to vote - and on election day  voting must produce their ID which is scanned and  fed into the computer  and only after that  is given  ballots to complete.    It takes time to vote and in the Municipal election ques were  long and often time-consuming - it took me nearly an hour to vote in the last election.     Chairs are provided for the weak and elderly to sit down when in ques.

Election day in SA is a Public Holiday and those not on holiday are legally given time off to vote.    Results are certified by Party Agents and put up on notice boards at the entrance to the polling booths after vote counting is completed.     Those are routinely photographed and forwarded to their party agents  on provincial and national level  where the forms are audited and if anything is questioned  the Parties have the ammunition to  support their objections.  Another issue is that the voters roll is cleaned up on the basis that deaths recorded are automatically fed into the voters roll and the roll is routinely checked by Parties to ensure  votes by the dead are not possible.

After the votes have been counted under strict supervision and sent to the Provincial Counting centers  - where the counting sheets are audited and certified by independent auditors - after which it is forwarded  to the National counting center where it is again audited before entering into the official computer for final determination of outcomes.

There are too many legal conditions that must be met to allow for voter fraud.    Whereas the SA Government is basically known for corruption and incompetence - the election system  would never be questioned like the situation is in the USA where voter fraud is rife.     The idea of largescale mail-in ballots and lack of voter ID's are  totally illegal in SA.

If there is one thing that the USA can copy from SA it is the Election Act and the way elections are managed in SA,    There is still  some fraud possible - but that would be extremely limited.  The present Biden efforts to allow for Election Fraud on a Stalinist norm is definitely out.

Watch out for a future President of  of SA.   Her name is Dr Mpho Malatsi  - the new Mayor of Johannesburg.   She is a medical doctor who joined the Democratic Party after witnessing the chaotic Health Services of the country under the ANC.

She was selected as Mayor last week and one of her first actions was to go with the Police to clear out some bars in Johannesburg that did not comply with conditions of operation in terms of their licenses.   She is certain to knock some sense into the Administration of Johannesburg and if she can upgrade the service delivery and improve the conditions of life she may be a shoe - in as Premier of Gauteng and future President of SA.   She is 44 years old and a real politician  with a spotless record.   .

I know of some expat Saffas in NZ who wants to return to South Africa,  but can't due to Covid travel restrictions.

Never fear Queensland firstly their are many, many more places that would welcome SA folks.

You guys need new blood lines to reduce the old criminal lines that your country was founded on.

Perth is the place for South Africans and always has been.

But your posting did raise a chuckle.

I hear the Court said Zuma's parole is unlawful and he must go back to prison.

The fact is the SA Courts are the only positive left in SA.   The new Chief Justice has not been announced.   Hope it is  Justice Zondo or the Judge President of Gauteng.

I agree on Zondo CM.

Watched a bit of the Zuma trial and was always impressed with the honesty and clarity how Zondo handled the trial and trying conditions plus the pressure he must have endured from the Comrades outside the court.

Pleased to see that their are at least one or two honest Judges still around.
