If you were to listen to some of the comments about Rubio's words relating to the UFC, you'd swear Rubio was placing equal significance on the UFC and the moon landing.

But then, as I did, you have a moment and go and look at what he actually said...

"This is a country that is built on doing things that no one thought were possible. When JFK said we’re going to put a man on the moon, a lot of people laughed and said that’s impossible. And at some level, that’s what the UFC was."

...and you realise he's simply saying that US innovators have a way of making the seemingly impossible possible.

Assume that when the Boks beat France last year, a journalist said something along the lines of, "Outnumbered, like the Voortrekkers at Blood River, the Boks circled the wagons and came out with a victory."

Would you, or any sane person, make accusations of equating the outcome of a rugby match to an historic event that defines a culture?

More comedy gold from the TDS infested minds of mongs.

Reporting on England's 1966 WC victory over West Germany, a newspaper description said England won through:

“the same bulldog spirit and determination that carried Britain through the dark days of 1940.”

...or how about after Clive Woodward's team won the 2003 RWC, and one paper wrote:

“The old Dunkirk spirit was alive and well.”

Clearly these people are saying that winning these world cups is on equal standing in achievement and significance to winning the War.

How utterly disgraceful, right?

Now there's class. Thanks Bob.

You wouldn't see Obama staging a UFC cage fight at the White House . . . or claiming that it's on a level with putting a man on the moon.

It is very good. Did not check if the OP is correct, you never know.

Still, what a way to cheapen the US achievements.

Putting the lunar expedition on the same level as organisng a UFC bout in the white house..

It is the kind of things simple-minded people can not do. Not the imagination for this kind of stuff.

It is incredible.

lol so we are sticking to the line that Rubio thinks the success of the UFC is on equal footing to the US landing on the moon?

And by that token, that winning a World Cup is the equivalent of winning a world war.

Makes total sense hahaha

What's that old English football chant when they play Germany, Two World Wars, One World Cup!
