This is for Mozart

It is still autumn in SA and last night was bloody cold in Riversdale -  it was colder than any day in midwinter last year and rain and even hail was all over the Municipal area.

I ended up watching the weather forecast and in while provinces in SA the temperature was minus 1 to minus 5 degree C.  There was snow all over some whole Provinces in South Africa,  I have never seen that whole Provinces in SA on minus C and there was snow all over the show.

I do not think that it is a real example of what global warming is supposed to entail.  I think with that we are entering a winter colder than we had in ten years,  We had a bad winter in 2015 in Riversdale - and last year the Sleeping Beauty was covered by snow  on one day.   That was pretty cold - but was not really a reflection of what followed in the rest of the year.

It is raining today in Cape Town, and the temperature today is mild and very nice, but buy tonight it will go bad again temperature wise.

What do you think about the above?

You detect global warming by average temperatures, not by looking at extremes. There is currently a cold front over much of the country so of course it will be cold.

NASA has a map here that shows the global increase in warmth.

Not a subject I care to argue about. Whether it's true or not, it makes no difference to my day to day slog.

The usual ignorant garbage . . . global warming must be a hoax because it's cold . . . where I live . . . today.

As for the difference it makes to our lives, it certainly doesn't make a big difference right here and now but what we do about it might make a fundamental difference to the lives of our grandchildren and the generations that come after them . . . so perhaps it is quite a big deal after all . . . unless you don't really care what happens to your grandchildren . . .

Mike nobody knows. CO2 apparently causes both heating and cooling.

These wise guys thought it was global cooling. Then they thought it was global warming.

Having made absurd fools of themselves they now say the.problem is both warming and cooling because of CO2 and they decided to call it Climate Change. Since the climate is always changing at least we can't be wrong right!

Yeah but we need a spokesperson to sell this garbage. Let's get behind  Sweden's Greta her mental and psychological issues will help in communicating to our daft unhinged gullible followers. Fake news CNN can help us in this.

Let's also get losts of money and give it to fake scientists willing to sell their souls for boodle. Let's also try and censor truth tellers. Attack anybody who criticize our garbage or explain our intentions.

Anybody still believing in man made climate change is a total hatter.

Bye the way far left loon Michael Moore is dismayed about his documentary Planet of the Humans being censored. He sure exposed those Greeny frauds. Perhaps now he is realizing he has been supporting a bunch of anti free speech fascists.

Pollute and litter less - fair comment rooibozo!

But no trying to destroy the world economy on bo gus "science"

You and eugenicist Gates with your abortions, vaccines and no fossils fuels reckon the 500 million world population target is attainable by these means no doubt.

You better ask Master Gates to spare you.

Global warming is a hoax, a conspiracy. Just like the Coronavirus is a conspiracy and a hoax...100,000 people have actually not died in the US, it was all fake media.

Religious people should be limited in the jobs they are allowed to have.
For starters, no religious people should be involved in politics or science.
No point even using science, if you are going to try to shape the world around you to fit your own dogma, instead of trying to be objective and look at data.
Thankfully religion is getting weaker and weaker in younger generations- particularly Generation Z and Millenials.

Religion  isn't getting weaker. Western Christianity is in decline but Coptic Judaism and Christianity is growing. Islamism is growing aswell faster than  any other due to high birth rates amongst the religion.

Also generation Z has shown to be more conservative than millenials and boomers in a trend that has future generations bucking the "status quo" liberal society and culture and leaning further right than before.

400 million atheists tops. Estimates vary between 200 and 400 million.Christianity has 2 billion and is flourishing where population are growing. Atheism is stagnant. Atheists are doomed in more ways than one.

Sharkvirus you Dumbcluck nobody says the virus is a hoax. It exists. What is a hoax is the mass panic  caused by agenda driven globalist communist scumbags.

By the way recent stats are that 42% of US deaths relate to nursing homes. Thanks of course very largely to 4 demonrat Governors who ORDERED infected Wuhan Virus folk to go back to nursing homes.

Then Dr Birx says the deaths are probably overstated by 25%. Given all her panic mongering that figure could be twice as big.

So given and excludung the genocidal actions of the 4 demonrat governors and the overstatement of deaths the true death rate is probably 40% of those reported at tops

That means a death tally of 40,000 or so.

So the Wuhan Virus is proven to be no worse than the flu. Remember also those sabateurs at the CDC  now say the death rate is 0.26% AND Say the desth rate could go lower.

The death rate of people under 65 that have no chronic otecindios must be a small percentage of the flu death rate.

In other words the globalist/communist scumbags pulled off the biggest hoax in history.

Dispite all the facts the demonrats still want to lock down and we still have the fake globalist media spreading panic. AT WHAT A COST.

investigate all involved in this hoax and take against against the CCP.

If it's not abortion, infanticide, vaccines designed to reduce population, ending fossil fuel use with no viable alternative the atheists are determined to kill billions of people. They should all be put in mental institutions, padded cells etc.

Also no internet connection as they pollute where ever they go. Hahahahaha. No let them blabber on as less and less find them appealing and the more they expose their true nature the more sane folk recoil in horror. LGBT, molesting of children. Trans oaks competing in women's sports are all fine for the atheist pervs!

SB

You apparently think that religion effects  everything - in that you obviously believe you are living in the middle ages when that type of thing really applied.

In modern eras corruption in politics is a major problem and nobody took it to the level as high as Bill Clinton and Barack Obama took it,    You speak about science - everybody believe what real science imply - to mix science up with political shenanigans you apparently read the fake news and believe their shit.

You apparently also believe the 100 000 BS without realizing that a given number of deaths (in 2020 the number is estimated as 2 900 000) is inevitable in the USA whether there is a virus or not,  The fact is the virus is dangerous when people are over the age of 65 already with one or more health problems and nearing in mind the death figure based on actual stats they would have died anyway,  So the real cause of the  death from Coronavirus is over-estimated and if the death rate is higher than the expected number of deaths than that increase would scientifically and statistically be attributed to the Coronavirus.

There is something that you would not get from the fake news agencies you thrive on - a major scam developed in the USA,  The financially distressed hospitals in Democratic States gets a grant from the Federal Government in the case of every patient they take in because of the coronavirus.   What they did at such hospitals is that the deaths were added to the number of patients treated by the number of deaths at the hospital referring to the virus, irrespectively of whether the corpse  was tested or not.

The impact of that bit of organized fraud is at present being investigated by the FBI,    .

@Xavi, can you provide any sources to back up your claims?

Sure conservatism will always exist, it is just the religious happy clappies that will cease to exist.

I have no issue with conservatives, it is just what is conservative will change in the future. A far-right-wing religious zealot is from the dark ages.

I have provided stats a few times on other blog posts that show that in the US, that generation Z is the least religious generation there has ever been. (even less religious than the Millenium generation).

These links show some of the Demographic makeups of Generation Z. For the most part similar to Millenials, except they have had the reality of going through 2 very extreme recessions.

https://www.voanews.com/student-union/gen-z-about-change-face-us

https://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2019/01/17/generation-z-looks-a-lot-like-millennials-on-key-social-and-political-issues/

Religion is dying in the first world... Anyone who believes that only their own religion would be eligible to go to a heaven is a fool. These are not the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Muslims are even more backward, as they think than non-Muslims should be killed on earth if they do not convert to Muslim.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are 61 million Gen Zers in the U.S., and they are projected to be about 10% of the voting population in 2020, according to Pew. Add that to 73 million millennials — the generation before Gen Zers, born between 1981 and 1996 — and together, they are projected to make up 37% of the American electorate in 2020.

By comparison, baby boomers — Gen Zers' parents and grandparents, born before 1964 — will make up 28% of the voting population in 2020, according to Pew.

Gen Zers are seen as predominantly liberal Democrat, typical of the young in previous generations. But unlike earlier generations, self-identified Gen Z Republicans skew more closely to center or left than earlier generations of young Republicans, according to Pew.

@CleverMike, if religion has no effect, why is the same brain dead nonsense consistent from one happy-clappy Christian to the next.
You are all totally consistent in your beliefs - about stuff that is seemingly not related to religion.
You believe any conspiracy, and try put the world into 2 groups of good and evil, or us and them. Nothing in between.

I am not particularly fixed on religion and rarely goes to church,  For me what is important is the issues of Freedom of Speech and Beliefs,   So I believe in something basic to Democracy, while other people belief that no opposition to whatever they belief in should be allowed.  That tendency is often encountered in the Media and I am afraid by you as well.

I do not care what people believe in - that is their indaba - but I do not think it is really necessary to come up with repetitive garbage irrespective of what item is being discussed,

BeanDip ...

I’m curious. Please help me understand something.

My neighbour is forever trying to tell me about Jesus. He says that Jesus is the answer to all my woes.

You’ll find him dressed in his Sunday best and off too Church every Sunday morning.

On Wednesday nights he has a lot of folks over for home cell. It usually goes on for about 2 hours.

He is very passionate about the church and tries to involve himself in all their affairs.

All goes well during the week ... till Friday night. That’s when he enjoys a few too many wines. Things usually become rather rowdy and often ends up in a shouting match.

The next day I’ll see him outside. He’ll pretend that nothing happened. I can see that he wants to tell me about Jesus again.

Am I wrong to think of him as a hypocrite ... or is he part of the 2 billion Christians you so proudly mentioned in your above post?

wee cc how many real Christians there are nobody but God knows. Will be less than two billion for sure.

How many atheists there are is also a question. Many a so called atheist has cried out to God when troubles come their way. They think they are woke being an atheist but a little reality sees them often change their tune.

Should you have better provable figures please provide them

What is certain though the Church is thriving in countries where populations are growing. Provided all the stats to ou sharktwit.

The intellectual basis for atheism has been shattered.

They will only outnumber Christians after the rapture occurs.

Oh do shuttup Peeper, you haven’t got a clue about global warming.....your laughable statement below demonstrates that. Litter has nothing to do with climate change, nor do many forms of pollution. It is the release of greenhouse gasses which are claimed to have raised temps one degree since the industrial revolution....and 0.4 of a degree in the ‘hockey stick’ period from 1980 to 2020.

Note that even if we maintain the hockey stick rate for the rest of the century temps will only go up 0.8 degrees. And it’s more likely that as oil becomes scarcer we will use it more efficiently and CO2 will have the usual diminishing effect on temps.

The temperature today has little meaning, except if it’s extreme, because that speaks to the tails of the temperature distribution curve, which if the whole curve is shifting should throw up lots of new highs.

Do try to grasp these basics. Here’s your embarrassing statement:

Nice fishing Maaik...you landed a few...and yes, it's cold here in Cape Town too.

After a  rather cool Summer, it went from a nice and unusually long and warm Fall to a full on shivering winter  in just 2 days.

We were getting worried that the rain staid away so late. I suppose the wheat farmers here and over there are quite relieved.

I wish I had a stack of Rooikranz to keep a fire going, but my supply is depleted...will have to stock up a bit...looks like it's gonna be a cold Winter.

Roversdale had quite a lot of reign since middle April.   Last year in April the dam level of the Korente Poort Dam - providing water to the Vette River Irrigation scheme and Riversdale the dam level was 37% and this year the level was 58%,  It rained heavily on Yiesday and is again raing today,

I spoke to Frans Malherbe's father on Wednesday and he told me it rained heavily in Still Bay and for a while it was accompanied by hail.    It is raining again today and the rain s softer - but continuous so the dam level will be going soon no 60% plus,

I went to Garcia yesterday and bought R400 worth of firewood,   I have a fireplace and in-house  braai facility - excellent for potjiekos - as well as an outside braai facility as well.   Rooipitjie firewood is becoming extremely expensive,

Through millions of years  there has been cycles where the earth temperature became hotter followed by an ice age.   The last ice age lasted for 38 000 years and ended only in 12 000BC.  Since them the earth temperature gradually became hotter - but mini ice age conditions occurred in between - for instance in Greenland for two hundred before 1500 there was a mini ice age that froze up the Island completely and forced Viking settlers to abandon their settlements and go back to Iceland.    That cause the freezing up of all the Rivers and since then the temperature has increased gradually and only in the last 50 years the glaziers started to melt down and collapse.

I don't believe that man can change what is a definite natural tendency,   It is likely that over the next 15 000 years or so the earth temperature would start going down and huge areas iced up - which would wipe out  probably 95% of the world population - after which a heating up period  lasting 35 to 45 centuries.

I believe humans cannot change trends in nature - what we can do is to find a way to eliminate  waste and pollution caused by mankind.
