He did not follow teh Americans in allowing the USSR under Stalin to establish the Iron curtain taking Eastern Europe into slavery. - that was factually the result of the Yalta Conference between Roosevelt, Stalin and him. It wa implemtation that Churchill wuld have opposed. However, he was defeated in the 1945 election and could not prevent what happened in Eastern Europe.
He had his weaknesses. At a function Lady Astor said "Winston you are drunk". His response was "Lady Astor you are ugly. Tomorrow I will be sober .....".
After his departure from Politics the UK went downhill fast and it took another leader in Mrs Thatcher to establish some respectability insofar as the UK was concerned. Now 30 years on and the UK is back to the downhill phase even faster that it was before.
