About a week before the charges against Zuma was dropped - one of his big supporters told me that arrangements have been made or the 738 charges against Zuma to be dropped. I was amazed - but was not surprised when the Charges were indeed dropped. The pressure from the ANC - or indeed the Zuma supporters in the ANC - on Mpshe was massive and he succumbed to it.
The High Court ruling will now be in the hands of the newly-appointed NPA head - who has already been used by the ANC to prosecute Breytenbach. He will try and do nothing and not take the matter further. But that will not be the end of he story. So our President may still end up in prison for bribery and corruption.
That is not the end of his trouble = the Public Protector still h as to investigate the Gupta issue and there can be more fireworks in that case.
