Rhule has missed the most tackles, Jantjies and Skosan are near the top of the Super 15 tackles missed category. Kriel lost the Japan test with a horrible missed tackles and he isn't any better.....Stepfontein is vulnerable to pace and was used as a doormat by Rohan.. ... Without doubt this is the worst defensive backline ever picked by the Springboks

I would have been ashamed if I were writing the ridiculous junk postings you normally make.  Japan should not have been in the game at all - but they were because of all the bugger-ups made by the so-called senior players.    to blame only Kriel for the loss is ridiculous.
I do not like the center pairing - but from a defensive as well as attacking point of view it could have been worse if Fat Fransie was at 12.   He is useless as a center from all perspectives,
Hope he is only brought in five minutes before the game ends.   /

The French will certainly look to run the ball. A new backline combination, many of which have exposed defensively in the past.
Serfontein is the best defender of the lot. I expect Frans Steyn will move to inside-centre during the game with Serfontein shifting to outside centre.
Jessi Kriel would be better at 15, where he has repeatedly said he wants to specialise, and where he currently plays for the Bulls.
If the Boks do get space and run the ball- they do have some elusive runners that are unpredictable. I would like to see what Skosan can do at international level. He seems to have a good step in space and hard to read what he is going to do next.

Apart from Mbonambi, bench will have a big impact. If things aren't going as planned, expect an early call.
Steyn, Hougaard, PSDT, DuPreez, Kitshoff will bring experience, power and energy. Even Lleyds should be useful in the later stages. He's had a very good Super season.

Dont worry chaps ,you Saffas still have the good stuff needed to beat the wee froglets .Just get rid of the coaching staff and hire my nephew hes doing a much better job coaching his local juniors than Coetzee and co have done with the Boks thus far ! My nephew even introduced such innovations as his MOTM getting to choose where they go for an after match feed which is light years of any coaching innovations provided by Coetzee and co !Anyways good luck to your boys vs France ,lets hope they give the buggers a damn good SH style thrashing so as to shut up the endless NH crowing about supposedly closing the gap [ that should close  the gap 'twixt their wee lips thanks very much !]

Nonsense!!! HouGat, Steyn and Leyds do not make a strong bench. They weaken it substantially.

If you had said Jaco Kriel, Shaun Venter, Vorster and Combrinck I would have been in agreement with you, Matey ... but as usual you have no clue.

Moz I normally think that at international level most coaches can only enhance a team and rarely do any lasting harm .But this Coetzee bloke is an exception to be sure ,would Saffas ever countenance a Kiwi coach ? Your boys seem to have the same attitude to coaches as ours unlike the Aussies who seem to think that its a democracy where every thing the coach says has to be ratified by a majority !

I have to agree with Mozart, what a poor back three and back row. I do think Coetzee deserve his spot as 15. He has been the only guy who have been performing consistently over the last 4 years. Might not be a bad call with the inside axis of whiteley, cronje and Jantjies. Centers are okay, but what was he thinking of selecting quota Mohoje. Jean Luke should have started. The kid has been on fire the last 2 seasons.

Veloorius! Gosh that brings a tear to my eye....still if it was a match saving tackle required I would choose Jorrie over Kriel anyday....not saying it's the worst backline, just the worst tackling backline.

Geez Moz, to define the likes of Kriel and Serfontein by a missed tackle or two is poor.

Fact is Serfontein against the Sunwolves demonstrated just how quick he is when he gassed the wing - yes only the Sunwolves but we are talking speed here not quality of opposition. Serf is one of our best defending centres and Kriel has been good defensively for some time now.

Jantjies defence has improved dramatically as has Rhule's. Skosan has never had an issue on defence.

Its not the worst defensive Bok backline by any stretch......its no better or worse than any previous.

Would I have selected Rhule, no - but I do rate him

The only real flaw in that backline is the utterly useless Cronje at 9.......worst back selection since Braam at 12

No need to debate.....here are the Super Rugby stats for matches played to date: . Kriel has made 46 tackles and missed 12.....success percentage 79% . Step made 43 missed 15 ...74% . Rhule made 45 missed 38....54% . .Coetzee made 20 missed 9...69% . Cronje 27 made missed 14....66% . Skosan 38 made 21 missed...64% . Jantjies 72 made 27 missed.....73% . I rest my case, the worst tackling backline ever.

If mediocrity and below par is what your looking for then well alrighty then ... yoiu have it.

That doesn't do it for me though.

It's the same as saying that Coenie isn't THAT bad a tighthead prop ... he's had two or three good matches this season ... yes he's mostly been very poor ... but not that bad all the time ... so let's include him in a test match. Yes we all know he was ripped a new one the last time round but what the hell ... I'm sure he'll do better this time.

That's the kind of approach we see with regards to Coenie, Beast, Bongi, Lood, Kolisi, Oupa, Jantjies, Kriel, Serfontein, De Allende, HouGat, Malherbe, Paige, Mapoe,  ... and and and

It's that exact approach that's brought us down to 7th in the world.

As expected the backline tackling stats were problematic in some respects.   So lets rate the players on the basis of tackles made and missed:-
Coetzee    -   Turnovers conceded   1   -  Made  6  -  Missed    0Skosan     -                                   0                1                   1Rhule       -                                   3                9                   1Kriel        -                                    1                5                   2Serfontein -                                   1                7                   2Steyn                                            1               5                   2
I am worried about the issue - especially about Fat Fransie being in the squad.   He made no real impression and also gave away a penalty.   He was only on the field of play for 27 minutes - but it is clear he was totally our of depth in the game

So ESPN changed the stats when updating them but his defense was putrid.   Also gave away a penalty - so  Fat Fransie was real BS in this test.
By the way what is the present weight of Steyn.   If it is still 115 kgs he deserve the Fat Fransie epithet.   Let him just take off his jersey and Fat Fransie's lard will be all over his pants.

 Mike
Please acknowledge my point
  1. Lomu - 125kgs
  2. Nonu - 109kgs
  3. Average Welsh backline weight in 2017: 114kgs

  1. According to ESPN his weight is 220lbs (99kg)
  2. According to SARugby.co.za his weight is 110kg
  3. The guy is 6'3 for christ sakes!
  4. We has won 39 of his 54 tests... not bad for a fattie playing at center, no?
  5. He has won a world cup.... we must have had an INCREDIBLE 10 and 13 protecting him!
  6. He has a 50% win ration vs the All Blacks. No mean feat!

Further to that, please go to http://www.rugbyhow.com/2015RWC-all-player-sizes.html and see how many players that are 6'3 or less, weigh more than Frans Steyn

Christ mate. You really know how to talk the biggest load of sh1t!
WTF has happened to you..

Now just to close matters off, i dug this up off Google...

You need to stop talking so much shit!
EVERY F*CKING day I come on here and you talk so much shit!
In fact, go wipe your mouth! Theres a whole lot of it seeping out your lips.

Mozart annoys the sh!t out of me sometimes too! But at least he comes up for air every now and then!

Fat Fransie'a qieoght while playing for the Sharks started off at 118 kgs in 2013.   The ideal weight for an athlete of Fransie's height is 105 to 106 kgs and Plumtree asked him to go om a health diet to get him nearer to the ideal weight as listed.   Fatso did not comply - but got his weight down to 115 kgs.
Even if he is now down to 110 kgs - he is still fat - only the dimension may be slightly less now - but I doubt whether he is still nor overweight.
Fat he was and fat he still is.

No - but a backline player of Steyn's height is below that figure.   If not they are often enough lacking in pace or have other deficiencies.

I'm sorry Mike, just have a look at Steyn in the match. He is not overweight. Its plain to see. Who cares what the different stats on the different sites say? Nobody knows from when those stats are, so basically they are irrelevant. Seriously Mike, just watch the match again, you'll see what I am saying.

"did not add to his pace"???
Mate which of the following Bok 12's had pace?
  1. Hennie le Roux
  2. Jean de Villiers (he lost all of his pace after his first knee injury)
  3. Pieter Muller

I agree de Allende was pacy. but the rest of his game is bog average.

Who else would you prefer lining up to take a 60m penalty to win the game?
His decision making is really good!
He has the hands of a flyhalf
He has the size of a flank

come on mike.

I have a feeling that i am busy fueling your crap tank and that you are not going to acknowledge that you are wrong again.
