What happened to Demo Salerno
Moz
You need to decide if this is a classic sci-fi movie or one about cold war paranoia.
Can't have it both ways, sorry.
Depends.
Does it have long crooked hairs growing out of it?
Stirring not shaking hmmm? Think there's a touch of both in there....somewhere.
Harsh Moz.....very much so.
C'mon mate, one has to feel for Demo, just a bit, seems like he's suffered both, last I heard he's slunk off into a dark place holding onto the seat of his pants. I guess we can all forget that he still has an outstanding game .......
Admirable Moz...admirable, you're really into the season of goodwill, I completely understand although I'll caution not to support a well practised lost cause. Come to think of it shouldn't Koosie (he of Skuna Notshe for Bok Kapitan notorieaty) be the one to breathe some substance into his tjommie the Turncoat? Hell, he can do with assistance, any assistance, we can't entertain a pathetic Bishop.....from where did you say....Diepsloot???
Denny
I'm still waiting for you.
Maybe before poking fun at Rooi and CC, you should also play me in two ten minute games.
It's a mystery why you don't want to play on chess.com like all rest of us did.
Both CC and myself stood for the challenge of a time format we'd never encountered before.
Nobody ducked and dived.
Truth is, if you really wanted to play us, you would have. Like we did each other
Sorry man. But it ain't a good.
Man up. Then you can run your mouth.
Listen pally, you've had a lot to say to me and it's now reached the insult stage.
Seems to me you're spoiling for a fight. This blog has and nothing to do with you and everything to do with me and a board mate having some fun, something we've been doing for decades and long before you came along. From my end I couldn't give a care who had won and who had lost and I wasn't poking fun at your mates because of that reason. There is a history. You have chosen a side and you want to buy into that history....your choice.
Uptil now I've had a good relationship with you, at worst agreed to disagree. You're doing your best to change all that.
I'll be polite this one more time.......but persist with your insults and it will be the last.
When I put up the idea of having a chess tournament I did so with good intent, what the hell, yes there was a lot of banter and stirring and all of that but at the end of the day it is just a game and difficult as it is, it was my intention for that time period to put the past behind. But something happened after that posting which turned into a saga and it changed my mind. It became personal. Right now I don't feel the need to go into a detailed explanation, suffice for me to say it was the reason I'd changed my mind. Going by your attitude there seems no point in me explaining it to you anyway, it does seem like it will be a waste of my time. Just like it's a waste of my time having already told you that I don't play abreviated Chess, not on any of the chess sites I play on. I don't care what Koosie and Turncoat decide to do.....that's their choice. Besides, it sounds like you guys enjoyed yourself, as a matter of fact you all benefitted from my idea. If anything I'm the loser even though I put up the idea.
Besides giving you a reason for not playing the shortened version I also invited you to play on another site in the longer version. Last I remember you saying is that you're putting your foot down and saying no, and that I had to play on the site of your choosing. That's all fine and dandy to me, fact is I was comfortable leaving it at that....your call, your choice. I had made mine.
So now, is there anything else I can help you with?
I chose a side did I Denny?
If that is what you perceived then it explains the rest of your post.
I never chose Chess.com. So it wasn't a site of "my" choosing. There was no back handed and under the table arrangements going on.
I never chose the site, nor have I chosen sides.
CC and myself had also never played the shorter version. I knew I would not like it and i didn't. But both of us a good sports, so we took part. Pity you couldn't do the same.
And I said no to your chess site because what the hell man? Step outside yourself for a moment and think about it. We're all on one site, and all waited for you, only for you to come by and dismiss what we'd arranged entirely. Do you think that had you been the first to suggest a site...we'd have unanimously gone...nah, screw Denny, we want chess.com?
Of course not. We'd have registered there. And I know for a fact Rooi would have joined. So, regardless of your history with the others, you and I have always been homies but you kinda put me in a weird situation and it was, ummm, uncool. I'd not have done the same to you.
Call it an insult if you like, but it is selfish to behave that way.
This community is already minute. What sense does it make to split what should be a fun event between a few members down into smaller denominators? None. It makes no sense.
What you did was self-isolation and so it's no wonder that you perceive me to be on the other team. It's par for the course when you put yourself in that type of situation.
Go back and read through that chess thread. Then come back and tell me I have any will or motive to be against you.
But ok, in the interest of showing you that I've got no beef with you. I'll sign up to your site and be willing to play any format that you desire.
My only condition is that we conclude the game within one week.
Both Rooi and CC are good players btw. So if you're close to or above their standard then we'll have a good game.
And again. CC and I have had plenty issues in the past. Rooi and I disagree about almost everything. Except Eben...we both rate him as hyped haha.
But go, I dare you to find any shit flinging prior to or post the matches any of us played against each other.
Had you taken part, my behaviour towards you would have been consistent. Regardless of which one of us won or lost.
By the way, did you play against Rooi before?
Whooosh!
I'll try one more time......and I repeat......I have been playing Chess for yonks......I do not play the short version of the game nor do I wish to play the short version of the game. I don't respect the short version of the game.....period. Why would I want to change now......just because someone has assumed I should? And because it rubs against my grain I'm a coward?....yeah right, be my guest that sure as hell makes a lot of sense. Furthemore, nothing I did stopped you guys from enjoying yourselves.
Whoosh again
We're all on one site, and all waited for you, only for you to come by and dismiss what we'd arranged entirely.
I've told you there was a nasty incident subsequent to me foisting the idea that changed my mind about playing the other two. I'll be blunt, I ditched the idea of playing them after that incident although I was satisfied playing you but only on condition it's played in the format I normally play. Again, I was cool with you rejecting my invitation. Each to his own.
Both Rooi and CC are good players btw. So if you're close to or above their standard then we'll have a good game.
"Good" is relative, personally I really don't care if they are and I'm loathe to venture an opinion.
By the way, did you play against Rooi before?
Yes we have. I've also played Turncoat.
With regards to playing on RHP, just remember there is a time lapse and that correspondence chess was setup for that very reason. It is also an akward time of the year with holidays looming, as it stands I'll be off to our south coast which makes it even harder. The good thing is that the game can sit there for you to move at your leisure. We can waive all time constraints.
Alternatively we can wait until the new year. Your call, I'm easy...
Why are you being so passive aggressive and assholeish about this Denny?
Nothing you've said went whoosh.
Chess.com allows for the longer format as well. So why the need for RHP?
Fine you don't respect the shorter format. You clearly don't respect others opinions or wishes either since you've taken a my way or the highway approach at outset. Selfish?
Yes, sometimes we have to adapt our expectations, rituals and practices to suite other parties involved. It's called compromise and most reasonably people are capable of it. That's why you may have considered trying to be accommodating...IE trying the shorter format.
Maybe you've just got an extremely low EQ. The only thing whoosh here is your poes attitude which you seem to think is normal.
I said man up before you talk smack and you felt that it was an insult. It's not an insult. It's a universal code. I'd send you the "how to behave like a man" textbook but i don't have one anymore since I graduated years ago and passed it on to a twelve year old kid.
Always noticed that nobody here seemed to have much time for you. Starting to see why. And actually weird, now that I think of it, nobody seems to have any time for you.
So take your pseudo slim naai attitude elsewhere.
I was attempting to be cool about it.
You'd get raped on the chess board anyway. If i did play you now I would make a point of embarrassing you. And that's exactly what I would do.
So I'll be the bigger man and let you slither away into shadows while you still have some face.
Toodles now...pally.
Seems dense has picked on the wrong guy. Ouch what a smackdown!
Anyhow you chessboard warriors could you please settle your differences on the chess board and leave us peace loving oaks out of all this.
Dense in not such a bad oak, he i s a very bad oak hahahahahahhahaha
Uh-oh So the real Plum finally stands up, after all my attempts to be reasonable and accomodating and after repeatedly having to explain myself. And even going to the trouble of telling you why I won't play on Chess.com when really it's not your business. Then lastly leaving you the flexibiliy of when I think it's best to play.
I can't believe how the word "whoosh" could unsettle you enough to get all snarky and threatening.
I was attempting to be cool about it.
No you weren't, you kept banging away about the others playing on Chess.com and therefor I should as well. As for being, Cool?.....that's awfully rich, scroll back to see who started this and who is taking it to where it's now. How many more times do I have to remind you that I was in the middle of having fun when you interupted and changed the tone of the blog. You simply have no respect for where I choose to play whereas I didn't raise a single objection to where you guys decided to play. I never once insisted for you to play on RHP, I left you a choice and I accepted your choice without a word being uttered.
But tell me, how did my abscence deter you from enjoying your games? Did my opting out cause you sleepless nights? Why is it so greatly important to you that I had to play? Don't I have the right to change my mind?
Always noticed that nobody here seemed to have much time for you. Starting to see why. And actually weird, now that I think of it, nobody seems to have any time for you.
A cheap points scoring exercise Huh? Painting yourself as some personality huh? A bit rich don't you think? ....I'm not the one guilty of getting rid of any posters. As a matter of fact the oldies on here will tell you how I physically increased the membership of this board when at the time of signing up there was less than a handful of posters. Have you forgotten the endless drivel of an arguement you had with Cloudy? It went on an on an on......was it that important? Do you remember me trying to calm you down during that never ending nothing arguement which ended up with the lady leaving and you profusely apologising for being an arsehole?
I daresay you've conveniently forgotten.
The end result was plain to see from a long way off, the only one who couldn't see it was you....no need to thank me the damage had already been done, it was always going to end up with her leaving.
One other thing while you're on personallity traits. It didn't escape my attention how you cower to Turncoat and Koosie, always almost apologetically pulling your head in whenever they arc up at you. Sies man, you're a poor show for picking out soft targets and a wee man when you really need to be.
You'd get raped on the chess board anyway. If i did play you now I would make a point of embarrassing you. And that's exactly what I would do.
Thought you said it was just a game...what's changed? Tell you what, you can have all the wins you want if it makes you feel any better, your threats frighten me.
And here I was thinking to touch base with you the next time I visited the republic, oh well(sigh).
If nothing else the board over a period of time plays a catalytic role in revealing personlities, once again it's played it's part....I know you now.
Subject matter closed, the board can do without another long drawn out drama.
Nah. You don't get to subtly call me stupid and then think you'll dictate when it's done. Jou hele hol pellie.
Fact remains, it's cowardly to slate the performance of others when you're too afraid to undergo the same challenge unless it's tailored to you precise preference.
I never nagged you to play when you opted out either. Honestly, based on Rooi's thrashing of you, it'd be little more than a waste of time anyway.
You'll also notice that I've not said a word to a Beeno or Moz. Why? Because they never said they'd take part. You did, and then you found some stupid excuse to pussy out. Like they said something worse to you than anything they'd said in the past. We know that wasn't the case. You needed a reason to fade and you took the first one that came along.
You never mentioned when you suggested chess in Decmeber that it would all your rules and on a site of your choosing or else it wouldn't happen.
Was that also a recent decision?
CC's story about Demo couldn't be more fitting.
Lol the real Plum stands up?
Yes. Knowing when to stand up is a trait that generally separates middle managers from those that they stand up on command for.
So to answer the question this thread asks...where is Demo?
He's in Australia. Crunching numbers and rolling over for a pittance. One day he'll learn how to stand up. Then he'll get a special treat.
Man you are predicable, a laugh and a total waste of time and to be honest you disappoint, I expected better. I guess it is what it is...... my bad I had my hopes up.
However, I'm glad you finally got to say what you initially wanted to say and that is I'm a coward. Don't know why you bothered to go about it in a round about way......I saw it coming from the get go. It's a pity you had to reference the Turncoat to do so, the fact is we all know the credibility of the ex knife weilding thug.
Thing is this so called coward didn't drone on for weeks over a nothing point to the detriment of this board........this so called coward didn't pick on and lay into a very useful and meanigful contributor to this board.......and this so called coward didn't leave a lady poster distraught to the point where she left the board....and this so called coward didn't have to then profusely apolgise for his rank arrogance and stupidity. Nice work...pardon my sarcasm.
Remember that tough guy ...or is the thickness of your skin the only thing tough about you? No need to answer Mr Persona extraodanaire it would be stating the obvious.
But erm umm tell me what happened to this, and I quote...
But ok, in the interest of showing you that I've got no beef with you. I'll sign up to your site and be willing to play any format that you desire.
and this threat....
You'd get raped on the chess board anyway. If i did play you now I would make a point of embarrassing you. And that's exactly what I would do.
Talk is cheap, cut to the chase, you the man I'm the coward.......well here it is.....the "coward" is awaiting ready to be raped and embarrassed.
A slight correction Moz if I may, it's Turncoat whom I've always encouraged not Koosie, I was the one who gave him the heads up on the site he currently enjoys and more often than not also enquire on whether he was still actively enjoying it. You stand correct in saying I had right of refusal to play both Koosie and Turncoat after their vitriol and the former's skulduggery.
Ok Denny.
My apologies.
Let's play.
Only...I will only play on chess.com and I don't respect any format of the game that takes longer than a day to complete.
Let me know when you're ready.
Edit: Moz, I'm not aligned with anyone. I can see how it would appear that way th ough.
Man but you are one pathetic hate-filled loser!
LMAO!
Deep dive? Pfffffffffffffhahahahahahahaha!
You and Dense seriously need to get over yourselves.
Plum
All good, my apologies.
It's a pity but I'll have to give it a miss, let's leave it at that. We are on different sides of the page re site and format.
Maybe someday.
Deep dive donkey dense denise disappoints daily
But Moz is right, lets not get too bitter about things. Chess is only a game after all!
One has to laugh.
Guy won't even play a standard length game.
Clearly before computers existed, when people sat down to play a face to game against each other, it was not chess. All the chess played at tournaments is also garbage then.
It's only real chess if it takes ten years.
Ja Denny. Lekker vol verskoonings.
lol, funny thread.
It is much more fun to observe than to partake in the madness, but most of us can't help ourselves. We have to be part of the chaos!
