Alcatraz departs

….so the great quest for the youngest multiple slam winner ends. In fact Zverev let the kid back in the game several times as his scar tissue and the Parisian crowd made things interesting.

Nadal won the French at his first try at the age of 19.

There is an assumption out there Alcatraz is going to get better. But Michael Chang won the French at 17 years and 4 months. And that was probably his peak. It’s not clear what Alcatraz is going to improve. He is a very good clay courter with a great drop shot. The French will always be his best opportunity ….perhaps even more so that other clay specialists…..because hard courts take away the potency of the drop shot.

The kid is impressively competitive and well behaved. But that doesn’t make you a 20 major winner.

The delight of your that Zverevbeat Alcaraqz is another simple-minded idiocy that can only be laughed at.    Did you actually watch the game at all?    Your description is total BS - hence my questiion.

Let me explain it - Alcaraz made mistakes and his attacking shots went wide - he made too many unforced errors and that was the main reason for his loss.    

Alcaraz has now beaten Djokovic, Nadal and Zverev in his short career   You starting a threat on that issue is childish anyway       Djokovic just surrendered his no 1 ranking to Medvedev and chances are that Nadal will NOT win he tournament anyway     

My position is different -  I hope Rune beat Ruud in the Bottom Half  of the Draw and would rather encourage youngsters than try to break them down like you do                 

Wrong…wrong….and wrong.

The fact is that Djokovic lost 1500 ranking points for going out in the quarterfinal.    At present  he has 8 660 points and losing  1500  points means he would end up  with 7160 points on Monday - meaning he would go down to the number 3 ranking  in the world.   

He is going to lose another 2000 points in the Wimbledon Exhibition series later this month and that will end up with having  5 160  points if he does not play in Halle before Wimbledon where the point counts will remain available.   That could lead to him being no 7 in the world.   Aside from that he will  end up  as  outside of the  Race to Turin 8 as well - at present he is number 11 in that race and he may go down in that one as well.    

It see3ms that you do not realize the situation at all.   Federer is for all intents and purposes out of the professional game even though he has not officially retired.    Nadal and Djokovic is going down and is not the matchwinners of the past anymore. and is unlikely to win anything in the remaining major series in future.    So who in the enxt generation of players are going to win master series,    There sis only one tournament left this year - namely the US Open  because as some players call it - Wimbledon this ear is an exhibition series not a tournament anymore.     Looking at the situation at present it seems more and more likely that neither Djokovic nor Nadal will win further major tournaments in future.   

Looking at the semifinal tomorrow - 

*      Nadal's performance was spotty and he nearly lost against Auger-Aliassime, while beating Djokovic is not much of an achievement anyway; and

*      Zverev had an outstanding performance against Alcaraz on a level I have not seen  him play  this year. - a similar level performance by him will leave Nadal losing badly.

So in the absence of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic who will be winning major titles in future?
