The rankings on 18 August 2025 will determine the seeding of players in the US Open

With seven of the 8 Round 3 matches completed the present ranking status are unlikely to change much in the quarters, In the end there will be 7 ranked and 1 unranked player in the quarters, There is no way the number 1 to 3 ranked players will change at all irrespetve of whether they win r lose in their matches, .

In the quarters remaining te changes are that -

  1. eiher Shelton or Helecka still to play in their Round 3 match will be out - the problem is that Shelton did very well in Washington and Toronto and he may have a "gas shortage" in Cincinatti, while Helecka is a tricky opponent to face;
  2. in the two quarters in the top half of the draw I cannot see how Auger-Aliassime can beat Sinner and Atmane beat Rune - so those two should end up in the semifinal;
  3. in the first bottom of the log quarterfinal Alcaraz face Rublev - but Alcaraz never had an easy win over Rublev and this would be another battle with the friend and training partner Alcaraz likely to win; and
  4. In the other quarterfinal the winner of Shelton or Helecka will have to face Zverev - another unpredictable outcome to be the case.

Taking into account the above Sinner, Rune, Alcaraz and Shelton winning cannot change their ranking position if they win in the quarters, All of Auger-Alliassime. Helecka and Rublev can move higher up in the rankings if they win their quarterfinal matches - but that is unlikely to happen.
