Fekix Auger-Aliassime is playing today in the Florence final and will go from there to play in Antwerp today.    In Florence he was the no 1 seeded player - in Antwerp as the number 2 player,   It is clear that he is desperately trying to get into the EOY Championship in Turin next month by  winning  in both tournaments.

After this week there are only the Vienna and Basel ATP500 tournaments and the APT1000 Paris tournaments available to qualify for the EOYT.     The reason may be that Auger-Aliassime has not done well in ATP500 and ATP1000 tournaments thus far in his career and has oftenlost in Round 1 or 2.            

Weird - but true.    Karen Khachanovc  and  Ilya Ivashka are playing in Antwerp and Stockholm respectively.    It is however also true that the two are married to identical twin sisters.   Both were named  by their parents the same name - namely Veronika - their maiden surname being Schkli aeva.   This led to some internet stories to the effect that the two players are not brothers-in-law, but actually married to the same woman.  

The other news stories are that Nadal and Medvedev became parents for the first time this week - Nadal of a son and Medvedev of a daughter.    What is not known yet is whether the two will play in further tournaments this year - Nadal has not played since Wimbledon  and Medvedev retired injured in Nur-Sultan last week.   

Alexander Zverev has not played since the French Open in May and it is not clear when he will start playing again.           

There are only 4 players in the above tournaments that could be regarded as players competing to  to play in  the  EOY Championship.  Those are -

*    Hurkacz  and Auger-Alliassime in Antwerp; and

*     Tsitsipas and Norrie in  Stockholm

Tsitsipas has already qualified to play in Turin.

The canndidates who are at present qualifying are as follows:-
