Please n ote the final at Kitzbuhel is on Saturday and not Sunday.    The finals  iro Washington and Los Calbos will both be on Sunday - allowing finalists to get to Canada on Monday.  

The organization of the Washington tournament was a total disaster.    The result is that the quarterfinals were supposed to be played today and thus far only 5 of the 8 second round matches have not been completed  or even started.   The delays were due to rain - surprising  since global warming  is nowadays associated with rain and cold spells in midsummer.    

This is not the format in which ATP 500 matches are played.   The organizers wanted to play as a ATP 1000  tournament giving all 16 seeded players a bye in the first Round .  That means an extra number of 16  matches be played in Round 1 on a later day than is normally the case with APT 500 matches.   If the normal 8 seeded players in APT 500 matches be played and all players played their Round 1 matches on the first two days of the tournament the present chaos would have been avoided.

The only way it could now be handled would be to have the Round 2 matches to eb finished and on the same day play the quarterfinals and the semifinals.   That is obviously what nowadays is to be expected from Biden and co and not tennis tournaments.  .
