Top seed Ash Barty departs in a terrific woman’s match against Shelby Rogers, who smartly kept the ball off the Barty forehand and used moon balls to the backhand corner as her version of the up and under…..punctuated by some deceptive backhands down the line.

Nice sportsmanship by Barty at the net after the loss.

In the meantime young Lloyd Harris from Cape Town had a good win over seventh seed Shapovalov….who was very erratic, but still dangerous. And is into the Round of 16 against the giant 6’ 11” Opelka.

Have you watched the Alcaraz game  against Tsitsipas yet?    Anyway Alcaraz is now through to the quarterfinals - the youngest player since the Open Era starting in 1968 to reach a quarterfinal in the US Open  and meeting Augur-Aliassime  makes it possible that he could go through to the semi-final.    If he beats the latter he would me et Medvedev in the Semifinal.
