A reasonable squad but it would have been better without the useless pair of Parnell and Behardien. I think the squad could have done with another quick in Marchant De Lange and as it already has 3 of the best allrounders in the country why select Behardien when a specialist batsman would have been a better option.

Too late for changes now.
Hope they pull off a big surprise.
Good luck.

I purely think Parnell is in there for the left hand bowling option, really. Agree on Behardien.
What would be your line up Denny, and AJ?

I do not think that Behardien is the correct choice.
From the selection already made, I would also go for a one-day wonder batsman.
A batsman that can and will score runs in this one-day game.
Amla is another player who must excel in this format and if not he should be dumped.

That's the thinking....has it worked?...the answer is no. When it mattered he failed. Can you think of an important game where he carried the honours because I can't.
My starting lineup which has no surprises....
Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis, AB de Villiers (capt), JP Duminy, David Miller, Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir, Dwaine Pretorius, Morne Morkel
No apologies for the missing quota.
Actually think the Proteas can win this one.

Not saying it's what I would have done Denny, just why I think they've done it. I like the team, obviously Dwaine would bat just below Morris. No space for Andile? Think he's nerves of steel could be important for us.

Point taken. I just can't get my head around why they would suffer mediocrity??? Seems like the accepted thing over there these days. And I can't get why they've left our Marchant De Lange...surely another specialist quick and another specialist bat would have firmed up the squad.
No space for Andile?
But then who do you drop? Either Morris or Pretorius.....Morris bowls around 140kmh and is handy with the bat so he is a must......there's not a lot to choose from between Andile and Pretorius but after the NZ tour I have a question hanging around Andile's mental toughness. So it comes down to the wicket, Pretorius on a slow wicket could be huge nuisance factor whereas Andile likes it quick but there's a worry about his consistency in length and width.
Still I'm happy that both of them made the squad.
Interesting is the selection of Keshav.....I'll be keeping an eye out on him.

You're right, I mean maybe that's why they were trialling out Ngidi before he picked up his knock?
I think you have a point, Pretorius is going to be a handful in English conditions.
I was surprised about Keshav, Shamsi had been seeming to be the one being groomed in limited over games, but I guess Keshav's perfomance in the tests must have swung it for him.
I don't know if you've been watching much of the ipl but Morris seems to have kicked it up a couple gears, he's looking fantastic.

No I haven't been watching the IPL but I've had an eye on Morris for a while and what I like about him is the tiger within his eye, I see a steely resolve, at times I think he tries too hard, he needs to settle, bowl and bat within himself and develop self confidence. What I dislike is how he strays down the legside when the ball doesn't swing.
I'd forget Shamsi, the Ozzies exposed him as easy pickings, Keshav is the man, whereas Tahir will attack he will contain. As an added bonus Keshav is a big hitting tailender.

I think you've chosen the best team available Denny.

Moz, tragic and sad is the mandatory quota, it remains to be seen if they'll stick with six in the team. If commonsense prevails the team will have a chance and depending on the conditions Pretorius will make way for Andile.....six of one half a dozen of another which takes the starting lineup to 5 POC, not a problem but if Behardien is included because of the quota then there is a problem.
