The Round of 16 is ;looming and there are certain question marks  already in evidence  and the following are interesting:-

*    Will Hurkacz beat Carrero-Busta  to meet Medvedev in the quarterfinals?

*    Will  Rublev beat Isner in the quarterfinals?

*     Will  Berretini be the quarterfinals where he would meet Tsitsipas  - who will win

The easiest route to the quarterfinals will be Medvedev and  Tsitsipas. - followed by Rublev, Sverev and Berrettini with Isner also having expecting to encounter a problem in reaching that stage of the tournament.

Seb

Don't you think Medvedev looks to an extent looks quite a lot like Mitchell Starc- the Aussie Bowler?

Semifinals Match-ups

Upper Half of the draw

1          Danill Medvedev                    vs         4        Andrey Rublev

Bottom Half of the Draw

2         Stefanos Tsitsipas                    vs        3        Alexander Sverev

Medvedev is in excellent form and is likely to gpo through to the  final,    Rublev was really unreliable despite beating Monfils and the match against Paire is going to be a lottery ticket..  Smilar to Medvedev both  Sverev and Tsitsipas are  in excellent form  and are like to go through to the semi's.

Despite evcerything  I think the semifinals  might be between Medvedev and Rublev and between  Tsitsipas and Sverev.     .In any event the following is the latest betting on the 4 matches with US Bookmakers:-

Medvedev             -           $1,28           Carrero Busta        -       $3,70

Rublev                  -           $1,20            Pairre                    -        $4,60

Tsitsipas                -          S1,36            Augur-Aliassime    -      $3,20

Sverev                  -           $1,20            Ruud                              $3,75

A quartet on the four favorites   will give odds of $2,80 ie 280 return a hundred invested and you get your $100  back.    The same would apply to Rand bets.   Unlike what happened in the tournaments this year the four favorites are in the semi's/

So the four Russian speaking pals are playing each other in the semi's and I think that the final would be between  Sverev and Medvedev.- who both won their quarterfinals easily against seeded players - while Tsitsipas and Rublev struggled in their matches against unseeded players.

Final Line-up

3     Alexander Sverev                vs        4      Andrey Ruiblev

Rublev never before in a game took a set off Demetrev  in 4  matches played.   After losing 6-2 in the first set one would have imagined that it would mean no difference today..    However,  today he  became the giant killer and won the remaining 2 sets 6-3, 6-3.   He will fight hard in the final and will have a 40% chance to win if he played like he did today.

There has been one element in the game of Sverev that improved marvelously in the last few months and that was his service - he used to be unreliable in serving and made odoles of double faults - which was not in evidence in recent  matches.   That was part of the reason why yesterday he suffered to an extent in the semi and while he only won the decding third set in a tie-breaker.     .

Sverev won  the final easily - Rublev was way below expectation.
