Mozart
I prefer to believe in facts not emotional fiction and responded in kind. You accused me of not congratulating. I do not imagine anything - everybody who saw the threat noticed it and when your mistake was pointed out to you - instead of saying you missed my congratulation you did a very childish thing and removed the accusation contained. I did not imagine it was in your threat - it was there.
Don't bluff yourself - when I dealt with the three tennis greats in 2021 neither Federer, Nadal or Djokovic were in their early 30's Federer was nearly 40 aand both Djokovic and Nadal were in their mid-thirties. At the time I wrote that that we are coming to an era when the three greats were going to retire.
The following facts escaped you totally:-
Federer
After struggling with injuries that he could not overcome Federer officially announced his retirement from tennis noiine months later, It is a fact that when sport injuries ocvcur in any code of sport it takes longer for a more elderly player to recover from injuries than it takes for younger players and that hit hioome.
Nadal
He did start off 2022 very well and lasted less than 6 months in 2022 before getting injures and he has not played since then due to persistent injuries. In less than 18 months after what I wrote Nadal effectively announced his retirement from professional tennis and said he might play in some farewell tennis matches next year. Whether that would happen is really anybody's guess and that actually mesn to play in a few tournaments and not being a serious conrtender in such tournaments. Normally farewell tour players last not longer than round 2 in such tournaments because of match fitness issues.
Djokovic
Since the effective retirement of Federer and later on Nadal since 2020 won a large number of Grand Slam toirunaments over a three year period - but there are also the fact that like his father said in an interview he is finding it increasingly difficult to maintain the necessary fitness levels in tennis.
What you totally refuse to recognize is that there are effectively four levels of tennis played in world tennis. These levels are -
* The Grand slam tournaments - 4 per year
* The APT 1000 Masters tournament - 10 per year
* The APT 500 tournaments - 15 per year
* The APT 250 tournaments - 27 tournamnets,
In his career Djokovic won -
Grand Slams
There is no dispute on that one. Thus far in his career won 24 titles spread over the following years:-
2008 to 2019 = 14 titles
2020 to 2023 = 10 titles
The fact is that with the fading out of Federer and Nadal over the period since 2020 the opposition Djokovic faced was less competitive than before, Djokovic at the age of 36 is the oldest tennis player to win the US Grand slam ever.
The End of Year Championship
What you ignore to/tally is that Djokovic limits the number of matches he played in and what you missed out on is that he is less effective when playing in the He won5 titles since sinc e 2008 and his recoc rdx won are as follows:
2008 - 2019 - 5
2020 - 2022 1
The APT 1000 Mastyers tournamentds
2007 - 2019 -34
2020 - 2023 5
In the period 2021 when I wrote the analysis Djokovic managed to win 3 titles in a period when there were 32 tou,rnaments played.
The above indicated and confirmed 2 issues I raised and that is the tendency of Djokovic to play in less tournaments in an effort to lengthen his career. However, bar the Grand Slams he ws markedly less successful in both ATP1000, ATP 500 and ATP 250 titles in matches he did play in.
From all that info it is clear that Djokovic - still a tennis great - is 37 years old next year. He is already showing signs that he is getting less competitive and I do think we will have to wait and see what happens next year, rom what happened to all other players I am not hopin g for much though.
