neck out and predict Duminy to come good in India. Have a hunch the Indian wickets will suit him....here's hoping.

I hope so Denny, but judging from the pitches in the other games today it seems only on pitches where India play the pitches have been up for such spin
The problem is if Spin is king this WC, why have we only taken 2 true spinners in Phangiso, Tahir - NZ yesterday played 3 and it won them the game....We've left decent spinners in Piedt, Hamer, Maharaj at home, it's a shame
But we could definitely use Duminy stepping up

'Daddy, it might be that the thinking is to utilize Duminy as an allrounder. My concern is Phasingo......is he upto the standard? Was he picked as a POC? The other concern is Duminy as a bowlerwho has been dreadful starting with the last WC. For sure spin is king, I'm not convinced they've selected the best outside of Tahir. I also think it's a huge mistake to have left Morkel out of the squad, if there's a bowler who can get lift out of a dead wicket it would be him. Also, if there's no swing then Dale is toast.

I think Phangiso should be fine, he's one of these spinners who has rebuilt himself on the shorter form of the game and he does it rather well, the only question mark is that he was recently called up on a suspect action and hasn't played a proper match since they've asked him to change it slightly, so who knows how he could come back
I agree that Morne should never have been left out, couldn't understand the reasoning behind it at the time and even now.
Like you said we've left some good options at home, especially considering spin is working well in this WC, someone like JJ Smuts could have done a job with bat and ball.
Willing to stick your neck on the line for any sort of prediction?
For some reason, I don't have a good feeling about this...and I;m usually the more optimistic supporter, I don't see us getting through the group

Sticking my neck......man, wow....that's asknig a lot. 20/20 Is so much harder. Well earlier I predicted a Windies win but the Ozzie side looks well balanced and strong with plenty of good batting as well as good allrounders. On the downside the Windies since my prediction have lost their main strike bowler due to a sus action. India are under the pump after losing to the Kiwis, I'd hate to imagine the pressure they're under as the tournament favourites. I daresay their wickets have a lot less impact on the shortest version of the game than in test cricket so that takes away their main weapon. Ozzies don't do well in India. The Proteas, or should I say the Thornbirds, their own worst enemy, starting at the top with the pollies and administration filtering down to selections. Can they win.....yes they can...but players would have to step up specially AB, Duminy, Miller and Faf. But then I have nagging doubts about their attack, Steyn bothers me, he flopped in the last WC besides he's been off with injury for a long time. Tahir is ready to fire, not the greatest spinner of a ball but highly competitive. Rabada, inexperienced and still on a learning curve and therefor not wily enough at this level. But he's young, athletic and knows how to take a wicket or two. If I think with my heart...ag nee...stop it....with my head then I'm saying Australia to win. I wish you'd ask me after they'd played the Kiwis.....will be an interesting tell all that one.

Den this may be a surprise to you, but next time you say a player is 'going to come good' remember you are predicting that player is going to be "the star of the tournament'.
Aside from your slight wobble where you went for Oz, you had this pretty much spot on.
1 Windies won vindicating your early call.
2 Steyn flopped
3 Rabada was too inexperienced as we saw in that key last over against the Windies
4 Duminy had some good moments...probably better than in the recent past.
Well done.
