Verstappen put on fresh tires, Hamilton didn’t and then the Williams crash. And we had a one lap race for the World Championship.

It may have been a bit unfair….but as Massey said to Toto…..’it’s a race’. Thank heavens the officials had the guts to call it that way….not to lawyer their way into a finish under the safety car.

Oddly this may have been Hamilton’s best driving year. But the truth is Hamilton has been in the best car for the last 8 years. It took an extraordinary talent in Verstappen to overcome that advantage…..and a whole dollop of luck.

This is perhaps the best end of the F1 season finish that I can recall.

Not sure what the objection from the Mercedes and Pom's is about but I cannot see the officials changing the result.

Yes Hamilton has had the fastest car for a number of years (thanks to Michael S) but this year Verstappen has come to the fore with skill and determination and deserves the win and the title of World F1 Champ.

The Pom's really are sad losers in all sport it appears.

Well done Verstappen you made your Dad and your country proud.

I'm very conflicted over this. Seems like the the race director changed the rules on the fly.
Personally I think Red Bull had the better car over the the majority of the season but had more bad luck than Mercedes did, such as the tire failure and Baku, the collision at Silverstone which was more Hamilton's fault but still a racing incident and get caught up in the Bottas  accident in Hungary.
While I can't say I'm a fan of either drivers personality Hamilton and Verstappen are exceptional drivers and racing at level beyond all others on the grid with the the possible exception of Alonso (how has that man only won two titles).
In terms of raw pace there is very little to sperate the two but while I argue Hamilton can be quite aggressive when he overtakes, Verstappen has been at times this season a complete lunatic behind the wheel, Monza and Saudi Arabia being examples.
Yes Hamilton has had the best car over the last 7-9 seasons but in fairness pretty much ever one who wins the F1 championship drove the best car that season.
With Mercedes lodging an appeal the title may yet be decided off the track.

I agree the best driver usually has the best car. But I don’t think the gap was ever quite that big, eg when Schummie was winning with Ferrari. Witness how well Bottas, a middling talent, has done.

I would rank the drivers in order….Senna, Schumacher and then Hamilton.

I was a massive Michael Schumacher and Eddie Irvine fine at the time. Schumacher was clearly the best driver at the time but my god did he cross the lines at times. Senna too. As much as Hamilton comes across as a whiner he's never crossed that line in my opinion.

All three drivers you listed are fantastic drivers but I don't think it fair to exclu de Juan Manuel Fangio and Alain Prost as well.

Well Fangio was before even my time. I saw Senna win the 87 Monte Carlo GP, my only F1 in person race, so I tended to pull for him…but it’s close between him and Prost.

I was also watching live on TV when Senna died, you just knew it was serious….but he would almost certainly have survived in a 2021 car.

The British are besides themselves and are praising Hamilton for his sportsmanship after the race.

Well if it was not for his father telling him to go and congratulate Verstappen he never would have.

Poor losers the Poms.

MS first title was won in a FI car which was not a Ferrari if memory serves me right I think it was 1994/1995 in team Benetton.

After retiring he came back and drove for the Mercedes team for two or three years more for his experience and knowledge because that was more trial and error on the Mercedes teams part as they had just entered the FI program as an inexperienced racing team and a new car.

When Rosberg was the second driver for Mercedes how many times was he instructed to let Hamilton pass in their racing duels.

Finally Rosberg did get a F1 championship with no thanks to the Mercedes bosses or Hamilton.

The German team has dominated the F1 races long enough and it was a bore to even watch the F1 races, finally someone has come  with a car and driver that is not only a winner but a real competitor to Mercedes and Hamilton.

Bravo.

Roll on the 2022 racing season.

Blikkies I presume the BLM you refer to is BAD LUCK Mother------.

Spot on.
