2016 Champagne Stakes result – Prized Icon for James Cummings and Glyn Schofield

The win was also the fifth Group I success this season for Schofield, who's had his trials and tribulations this year over his involvement in sales of horses to Hong Kong. Only Hugh Bowman has ridden more Group I winners this season.

"It's been a trying couple of months but the only way to answer something like that is to get back to what I do best," Schofield said.

"It's great for James. He's been about the only one that's supported me through the difficult times of late so I'm very happy for him."

I know some of the details, not all...here goes.A well known ex racing commentator and now horse owner as well as some sort of wheeler dealer who had a share in a horse alongside of some others, sold it to a Hong Kong buyer. The agreed price was supposed to be a modest $A160,000 but the wheeler dealer unbeknown to the other owners realized a price of $A200,000. Besides pocketing his share he then split the extra $40,0000 between himself Glyn and someone else. Glyn and the other person each got $10,000. That's all I know besides the fact that Glyn copped a suspension......there must be more to the story but that's as much as I know. As you can see from the text, Glyn has been ignored by the racing fraternity, he used to ride for the leading trainer but that has gone cold.
