An ailing Nadal, recently recovered from Covid and suffering from heat stroke and a stomach bug, was too much for the young gun. Nadal dominated the first two sets before his medical issues threw him off balance. A short break sorted it all out and Shapo weakly conceded his first service game in the 5th set, exactly when he needed to show resolve.

Even with Nadal registering a record number of doubles, the seuntjie was unable to assert himself. How match fit Nadal is has to be in question. But a fit Nadal or Joker still have the measure of their pursuers. Now who was it that picked Shapo….hahaha.

The worst tennis match I have ever seen.  Nadal won because Shapovalov made mistakes when hitting his slow and poor returns out many times in a match where at least 70% of the games led to deuce is a joke never to be repeat1ed again.   It was not a question of asserting himself he just lost because of his own mistakes - not good play on the part of Nadal.

By the way dimness - both Shapovalov and Rublev were effected by Covid exactly the same time as Nadal.   For Nadal i t is an excise for Shapovalov not so.   Hell you are dim beyond belief.

In the other quarterfinal the tennis was not much better.    So what will the semi between Nadal and Berrettini produce - another disgracefully poor and boring performance in tennis?

‘For Nadal iot is an excise for Shapalov not so’. The ravings of a lunatic seem clear by comparison.

Mozart

I never mentioned anything about Covid infection when discussing Rublev - but you gave that as an excuse for Nadal/'s substandard performance in apparent ignorance of the fact that Shapovalov was also infected.

You mentioned Medvedev playing boring tennis - but yesterdays game was not only boring -it was outright poor performances by both Nadal and Shapovalov.   It was a poor game and that is a fact.    The loser was the player who made the most careless unforced errors   and that is factual - not your normal BS contributions, starting referrng to "seuntjie" - that in itself is immature BS anyway.

But Nadal is 35 we all know that makes a difference with Covid vs a 20 year old. So it’s much more significant that Nadal had Covid. Please consider all relevant facts before jumping to conclusions.

My 80 year old sister-in-law tested positive for the Delta variant and needed no treatment for the infection.    So now suddenly age is an excuse.

Be it as it may - Nadal kept lobbing slow  balls back to Shapovalov and instead of keeping his cool and keep Nadal under pressure  under pressure - he missed the court way too frequently.   T^ [put it mildly Shapovalov made too many unforced errors to win anything.   By the way the same applies to Berrettini this morning - in the first set Berrettini made 14 unforced errors compared to 5 by Nadal and the Italian also made 4 double faults in the same set.

It was such a poor quality game I lost interest after the first set and went doing urgent shopping.

I said a while ago Rublev will be out of the Top 10 players unless  he recovers form - the same applies to  Berrettini - but even more so.
