New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first. After 38 overs they have a very high score of 244 runs with five wickets wickets falling.
I am not sure what the South Africans want to do. Please note the bowling figures are as follows:-
This cannot be a serious attack at bowling the NZ batsman out. I do not think that most of the bowlers will not make the normal SA starting line-up in the WC matches.
In the WC games there will be four bowlers and I think they are trying to find a combination as to the fifth bowler. They have not used Behardien at all and there is no sign that Steyn will bowl today. Faf went for 14 in his first over and 3 in his second over.
The bowling line-up would apparently be Steyn, Morkel, Philander and Tahir, with the fifth bowler coming from Duminy and some of the batsmen.
Update
Faf has now bowled 3 overs and his bowling figures are as follows:-
1st over - 14 runs
2nd over - 3 runs
3rd over - 4 runs
Duminy has now bowled 6 overs for 35 runs - taking one wicket. My idea remains the 5th bowler function in WC games will be handed by Duminy and Du Plessis plus a few others.
Update
Anderson and Ronchi is now batting - I think they are the last of the NZ recognized batsmen.
Morkel has four more overs to bowl and Philander 4, Duminy also has 4. Morkel is going for 3,5 rpo, Philander for 7,33 and Duminy for 5,83. Interesting enough Parnell went for 6,33 rpo - but he took 2 wickets against the 1 taken by Philander. Abbott has bowled
