NZ crushes SA in World Cup opener

New Zealand allrounder Sophie Devine has dominated South Africa with a thunderous century in their opening World Cup pool match in India.

Devine was dismissed off the final ball for 145 in New Zealand's innings of 5-320 after being asked to bat first at Cuttack on Friday.

The innings off 131 balls and featuring 13 fours and six sixes was the second highest one-day score for the White Ferns.

The record of 168 was scored by current captain Suzie Bates against Pakistan during the 2009 World Cup in Sydney.

New Zealand's total was also the fourth highest in their history.

Bates struck 72 and shared a 128-run third wicket stand with Devine before Sara McGlashan (32) and Nicola Browne (40 not out off 20 balls) closed the innings out aggressively.

 Well at last NZ have got 11 people that can play the gentlemens game....sorry/pity they are women though.

Watched some of the game on TV, SA were not only thumped they were a disgrace.
