Nadal is struggling from a foot injury and announced that he will not paly in any further tournaments in 2021. That means that he is out f th race to be in the top 8 players who will compete in the Turin EOY player Championship. Nadal is at present at no 7 in the Race to play in Turin and player like Ruud, Hurkacz and Sinner is in the run to take upo the no 7 and 8 positions..
It is not clear whether the same applies to Dominic Thiem - but he is not likely to play either - but we will have to wait and see what happens;

The point allocations for ranking purposes allows for -
* gaining of points depending of the round reached in tournaments by playing players;
* loss of points when not playing.
That could result in -
* Rublev and Berrettini moving into the number 5 and 6 positions in the ranking system;and
* Federer dropping to below 10 in the rankings .
