Of rhe 32 seeds - thus far 5 seeds lost their matches in Round 1. The real surorises were Fritz and F Cerundolo losing their round 1 matches, But the problem is there are still 20 Round 1 matches to be played and a fe further seeds may bite the dust as well. The Bottom of the Draw Round 1 matches have all been concluded - the 20 matches to be played are all in the top half of the draw,

Interesting enoug - for the first time in years there sis a S A tennis player that reache Round 1 of a major tournament - Lloyd Harris who is playing as a qualifier. He faces Rublev - who lost more matches because he self-destructs and losing matches beating himself, So Harri has a good chance of beating Rublev,

ROUND 4

Top Half of the Draw

1 Jannik Sinner vs 17 Andrey Rublev

5 James Draper vs Alexander Bublik

3 Alexander Zverev vs Tallon Griekspoor

6 Novak Djokovic vs Cameron Norrie

In Rounds 1 and 2 only 15 of the 32 seeded players survives, Of the 15 survivers - 3 of those are playing other seeded players - that will ensure that after Round 3 a maximum of 12 seeded players may go into Round 4 - but that is not all, Looking at the results this week I would say that of the 12 remainng seeds 9 has unseeded opponents where upsets are possible. Take for instance the match between Zverev and Cobolli - in the Hamburg tournament Cobolli beat Zverev - going on to win the tournament. So what will happen today is really difcult to determine, All of Sinner, Draper and Shelton are playing young gun players who did well thus far this year, It must also be birne in mind that Americans in general struggle playing clay court tennis - so Paul, Shelton and Tiafoe face tht obstacle as well. Take for instance Fonseca - who win the Argentne Open on clay tournament in January dter that he did not play much tennis, However, this week he gave Hurkacz - a former Top 10 player - a tenis elsson - but hes truggled a bit in his Round 2 match he played a much weaker player - won in three sets. two of which he won by winning tiebreakers in 2 of the 3 sets, So only 3 seedeed are pickd a outight winners against very weak opponents and those are Djokovic. Musett and Alcaraz are to my mind certainties.

QUARTERFINALS

Top Half of the Draw

1 Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Bublik

3 Alexander Zverev vs 6 Novak Djokovic

Bottom Half of the Draw

8 Lorenzo Musetti vs 15 Frances Tiafoe

2 Carlos Alcaraz vs 12 Tommy Paul

So the carnage of seeded players in Rounds 1,2 and 3 most of the top playes have not played any of the top 32 seeds and will not until Round 4. That makes forecasts difficult.

I have been paticipating in 4 Superbrue pools selecting 2 male and 2 female players in each of th three rounds and lead in evryone of the pools. So in Round 4 my picks are the males Alcaraz and Zverev - the females Andreeva and Sabalenka.

I left out Sinner - siince his first seeded opponent would be Rublev - and it may not b an easy match he got used to in the first 3 rounds, My second choice could have been Draper - but Bublik makes life dificult for seeded playrs Io left out Shelton and Paul since clay courts can be problematic for them..

‘’Roob-left would not be an easy match for Sinner. You can’t be serious. Better stick with the horses Mike

You better stop showing total ignorance of Tennis in the world - and all I said is that Sinner did not play any seeded players in the first 3 round and may find a game against Rblee more difficult to play Rublev afterbeing out of tennis for moths months ban for using performance enhancing drugs, He played against poor players from Round 1 to Round 3 - so what did that tell you. I did never say Sinner would not ebat Rublev - I said to my mind Tsverev in Roudn 4 has a better chance of beating Tiafoe by a wider amrgin than Skinner had in beating Rublev.

I also left out Alcaraz from my selection for winning in the quarters for the same reason - He also faced only weak players in ounds 1 to 3 and in the quarters he demolished Paul totally.
