the tempo is stepping up leading into the Cox Plate, Caulfield and Melbourne Cups with two big races tomorrow. The G1 Turnbull stakes R7 over 2000m at Flemington sees the queen of the turf Very Elleegant up against Incentivise which really should be a two horse race. There's quite a few G2 races on the card as well.

The other big one is in Sydney, the G1 Metropolitan R9 on the card over 2400m 

In one of the races in Melbourne there's 2 local horses up against 10 imports. We're in for a great weekend of racing.

Thanks, but for some weird reason our local TAB doesn't offer betting on the Flemington races. I can bet on races at Albion Park, Doomben, Gold Coast, Randwick, Globe Derby, Menangle and Toowoomba but no TAB bets offered for Flemington. Will check out the card and bet with the bookies if I like something.

The two last winners of the Bill Ritchie Handicap have gone on to Group 1 glory in the Epsom Handicap and one punter will certainly hope that trend continues on Saturday.

I know favourites don't have a great record in the Melbourne Cup but I can't look much beyond Incentivise. Dawn Patrol my roughie.

Not sure about Dawn Patrol but ja Incentivise is hot until you listen to the astute Mr David Payne......I'm sure you remember him, well, his horse Montifilia won the Metropolitan(3200m)  past Saturday and he reckons he is a great chance in both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup. Anyway there's a way to go  and perhaps one of the internationals will come into contention as well but it's going to take an awesome effort to beat Incentivise.  Should also say that Montifilia is going to carry a feather in the Cups .

Yes I remember David Payne as a jockey and a trainer. He trained the great In Full Flight back in the day. Will include Montifilia in trifectas and quartets.

If you fancy Incentivise  then you'd have to like Zaaki for the Cox Plate. The weights and draw are yet to be declared but the horse has swept all before it in every G1 race it's raced. The only query is Moonee Valley racecourse, shaped like a saucer with a 100m straight and left hand going. On the plus side it's going to be ridden by a Melbourne jockey.

R6 G1 Caulfield(Saturday), there's a total of 6 horses entered for the race reason being trainers are reluctant to enter their horses in races where Zaaki($1.24) is running even though there's a prize of $1m
