Champions League cricket, Otago win super over

Otago's taken a major step towards qualifying for the Twenty20 Champions League semi-finals with a narrow win over South Africa's Lions.

The Volts matched the Lions' 167 from their 20 overs with Jimmy Neesham hitting 52, sending the match to a super over.

But the scores were still tied after that with Otago winning because they hit more boundaries in the match.

Neesham came in with the match in the balance at 97/4 but steadied their chase.

"We knew that it was a good deck out there for batting so if we got in and started going it'd be pretty hard to stop. That was basically the plan, just to make a game of it and bring it down to the last couple of overs which we obviously did and then very pleasing to come out winners in the end."

Otago will make the semi-finals unless they lose heavily to Rajasthan in their final group match and Mumbai thrashes Perth to move ahead on run rate.

Dude, that was hardly a choke.

I know u dont like SAFFAS, but this comment was invalid.

Just cos they didnt get 2 off the final ball, hardly qualifies as a choke.

The 2003 CWC semi vs Aus was a choke
The 2011 CWC game vs NZ was a choke

WHat happened today wasnt a choke mate.

Brycy I wouldn't start talking cricket on here if I was you, that would descend into complete and utter humiliation for you in an instant.

Always funny when a Kiwi starts getting loud about cricket.

Brycy, you guys have achieved less on the cricket field, than Bafana Bafana have achieved on the soccer pitch.

We may choke at times... that I shall not argue with!

But please look at the ODI and test ratings over the past 2 decades, and PLEASE tell me at what stage you silver ferned rabbits have ever been ranked higher than South Africa?

We may choke... but shit u guys suck!

Hey flash, this cricket forum was dead until the kiwis sparked it back into life by kicking yr butts.

Thought with the ashes there may have been at least one comment given the expat saffa playing for England.

Maybe the room this forum is taking up on the page could be much better spent with a wider range of sports given that it's not even moving

.

No need to thank me though for helping you kickstart the cricket forum into life . It was my pleasure. btw cricket sux
