Champions League cricket, Otago win super over
Otago's taken a major step towards qualifying for the Twenty20 Champions League semi-finals with a narrow win over South Africa's Lions.
The Volts matched the Lions' 167 from their 20 overs with Jimmy Neesham hitting 52, sending the match to a super over.
But the scores were still tied after that with Otago winning because they hit more boundaries in the match.
Neesham came in with the match in the balance at 97/4 but steadied their chase.
"We knew that it was a good deck out there for batting so if we got in and started going it'd be pretty hard to stop. That was basically the plan, just to make a game of it and bring it down to the last couple of overs which we obviously did and then very pleasing to come out winners in the end."
Otago will make the semi-finals unless they lose heavily to Rajasthan in their final group match and Mumbai thrashes Perth to move ahead on run rate.
