Slightly anti climatic final….

…after the Joker looked 8 years younger in the first set. Clearly he was conserving energy in the third set after being broken. He made his stand in the fourth, but Alcaraz was playing solid tennis, cutting down on unforced errors. The consequential point was the first point at 4 serving 5, when Novak had to hold. It was played at the highest level with more than 20 blistering ground shots.

There were some other memorable points. When after an impossible round the net post Joker shot into the corner Alcatraz incredibly got there and brilliantly won the point.

Joker is very near the end but has made 5 straight major semis. So if you are the third best in the world at something, why stop. He could get lucky if one of the Big Two get taken out by a big hitter. But the real challenge to Janik and Carlos has to come from a new generation of players who aren’t in focus yet.

There is one thing about Djokovic and that is he is still compettive in Majors - but he has not won a major tournament fo the past 3 years.

The rankings is clear at resent - Alcaraz is 3 350 points ahea of Sinner

while the next seed Djokovic is more than 5 000 points below Sinner and near to 8 000 points behind Alcaraz.

Djoplovic id not mny point ahd o the next three seeds and since he rarely plays in tournamnets he will likely loose the 3rd ranking sooner than expcted,

It will be very diofficult for Sinner to make any real impression on the above points difference with Alcaraz - so Alcaraz will be out of at least the next two majors due to injury to loose that ranking.

Are you still of the opinion that Alcaraz is on par with Michael Chang as a player if the following is beorne in mind:-

Alcaraz has won 25 ATP Tour–level singles titles, including seven majors. He is one of nine men (and the youngest) to complete the career Grand Slam in singles.

The followng titles in Majors were won by Alcaraz:-

US OPen - twice in 2022 and 2025

French Open - twice in 2024 and 2025

Wimbledon - twice in 2023 and 2o24

Austalia Open - onnce in 2026

In te final situation he played the followin g players in the finals:-

1. Djokovic - 3 final wins
2. Sinner - 2 wins and 1 loss
3. Ruud - 1 win
4. Zverev - 1 win

In the 8 major fuinals where Alcaraz played in finals - he won 7 and lost 1. That is clearly an indication tha he has a maor fighting sprit is finals.

He is only 22 years of age and he is if he keeps playin g for another 10 years to break all records hed by the ennis gfreats like Djokovic, F ederer and Nadal in the next decade.

That remains to be seen. Players with great longevity like Rosewall and Djokovic tend to have relatively light frames. Heavier types like Nadal struggle to get past 30. Alcaraz is more of a muscular type. Let’s see how he goes after the first major injury.

H did miss the 2023 Australian Open with an injury.amd sinmce then nevr has ben stuggling ith any serious injury, Djokovic had two major opponents in his playing career - namely Federer and Nadal. His first major title he won in 2008 - ut ehe only got to 7 Major titles by the time he was 27 years of age,

The major problem Djokovic faced in major title wins was the fact that he ahd to face Federer and Nadal - while Alcaraz only have the rather frail Sinner to content with,

I will not be surprised if he soes not in all four Majos this year,

It’s possible….normally one would worry about big servers at Wimbledon . Zverev was close in Australia, but none of these types seem mentally ready to win a Major.
