Faf du Plessis, the middle order batsman, has been has been named in South Africa's 15-man squad for the unofficial Twenty20 tri-series against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, in Zimbabwe in June. Du Plessis has played 21 ODIs for South Africa, but has never been part of the Twenty20 squad. Chris Morris, the Highveld Lions allrounder, has received a maiden call-up.

The squad will be led by Johan Botha. AB de Villiers, Jacques Kallis, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel have been rested.

The series begins in Harare on June 18.

Squad: Johan Botha (capt), Hashim Amla, Farhaan Behardien, Marchant de Lange, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Colin Ingram, Richard Levi, Albie Morkel, Chris Morris, Justin Ontong, Wayne Parnell, Robin Peterson, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Dane Vilas (wk).

Cricket is being degraded by allowing second stringers to represent.

Back in Afghan one would be beheaded for not putting their best troops out in the front line.

Luckily this "second string" side would still beat Afganistan :) I am glad they are giveng Vilas the opportunity he deserves it. Behardien has also had some good showings domestically and deserves a look in.

From the look of it and deducing from what happened in the IPL and before I would probably pick a lineup looking something like this.

Faf

Levi

Hashim

Behardien

Duminy

Vilas

Botha

Peterson

Parnell

Tsotsobe

de Lange

Total bu!!sh!t

Afghan are tier 2.

SA are tier 1.

But if they keep screwing up with their national setup things are going to go pear shaped.
