The US Open has been significantly delegitimized by the Joker ejection. A softly hit underhand shot hits a lines woman of a particular type. She falls down writhing in agony....how different from the ball boy who shrugged off the ball hit by Federer that collected him on the head. Yet another fake victim.

And does the press present a balanced view. No the British press who in the old days could have been counted on for a bit of common sense uses this as a chance to recast the Joker as some sort of villain, echoing ESPN’s McEnroe brothers. How John M can have the gall to criticize the behavior of the Joker is a mystery.

In fact of the big 3, Nadal is the guy who regularly gets the trainer when things aren’t going well.....and the guy with the dubious medical record. Joker is the least liked, probably because he’s Serbian, about equivalent to being a white South African.

This was an accidental non event, made a big deal by a huge Hollywood and the antipathy of the establishment. But I’m guessing the Joker will have the last laugh....none of the players left in the men’s draw will generate much viewership. It’s going to cost them dearly and they deserve it.
