….and is the only man to win each Major at least twice. Novak came out flat this afternoon, not like the razor sharp player who sliced Alcatraz apart in the first set. It took him a while to get really motivated against Ruud, who played perhaps the best set I have seen him play to start.
It all turned in the first set tie breaker, when an out of position Joker went for broke and cleaned the baseline with an unreturnable bullet forehand on the line. After that we were treated to a master class in tennis, his ground shots becoming sharper and sharper.
Federer had a fabulous, graceful all court game….Nadal the heart of a lion and the heaviest ground shot spin in the game. Novak has the perfect physique for tennis….pace, strength, flexibility. And a unique mind that allows him to problem solve under pressure. Now officially the greatest to play the game.
He has never been the favorite with fans, too Eastern European….too inflexible to really adopt a lot of the modern social nonsense. Hell our prolific tennis poster on this site can’t even bring himself to acknowledge the greatest accomplishment in tennis. But to me he has always been gracious in victory and defeat, with a good sense of humor.
So congratulations on a magnificent career.
