The Starcraft battle is very evenly poised. I won the first 2 games and Dumbplum came back to win the next 2. The big final will be this weekend some time.

First game was my zergling rush vs Dumbplum's zealot rush and I overran him.

Second game was similar, not sure what Dumbplum's plan was but my zerglings killed him before he could implement it.

3rd game was the most interesting. I didn't want to win just with zergling rushes so I switched race and it was Protoss vs Protoss. I gambled on building cannons in DumbPlum's natural expansion while he built robotics bays. When his probes came out to expand they were shot to hell but DumbPlum cleverly switched to Immortals and they took out my cannons. I was overconfident so I'd built my gateways in the expansion rather than my base meaning when DumbPlum's Immortals took out my cannons, they also took out my Gateways and I only had one left in my base which wasn't enough when the Immortals arrived.

Last game I decided to go back to the zergling rush to seal the deal but DumbPlum was smart. He walled off his ramp in time and I had to switch to an air strategy but he was ahead of me and already had Void Rays. His Void Rays started killing off my drones before I'd even finished building my Spire.

It was good fun though and I'm looking forward to the final on the weekend. We both have a lot to think about! None of our games lasted very long and perhaps the final will be a much longer game where we both build up big armies . . . but we'll see.

Thanks DumbPlum, I enjoyed it.

In the words of Prince George in Blackadder III - "I don't know what you're talking about but it sounds damn saucy!"

.I suck at games, so I'm gonna chicken out on that. I don't have the time to do it properly anymore...pity as I really loved the original SC...

Also, Rooi

Warcraft ROC was my main RTS for a couple of years.

It's way more difficult than SC.

Again, haven't played in over ten years now but perhaps if you're feeling brave after this we can do a best of five on that too.

In terms of comparison, I'd say SC is macro heavy while ROC more focused on micro since there are NPCs around the map and you get currency + level up from killing them. So the better your microgame the more you earn and the quicker you build.

Unit synergy is also way better in ROC.

Your hero's also level up as you kill mobs.

Anyway, if you don't fancy 1v1'ing me in that we could also do 2v2 online. It's hella fun.

I think i will be getting into RTSs again now until the new PS5 drops.

It's so much better finding common ground that fucking arguing all the time.

Just saying.

Has anyone tried DCS (Digital Combat Simulator)

It is a massive 230GB+ game, but I just got it, so I was wondering how good it really is

I believe it is the best ever aerial tactical fighting flight simulation that you can get

Apparently the learning is all hard core, from written manuals.... you literally teach yourself how to fly.

Don't know how true it is, just going by some reviews I have read.

Seems very interesting indeed

My poor PC will never run that game DA.

The closet I've come to that level of realism was a US military recruitment FPS.

You actually had to learn Farsi and a bunch of other stuff before they'd let you shoot anything.

But yeah, flight simulators, from what I hear, are highly immersive these days.

If you do get into it, try to post some videos.
