Released players:

So who do you think should have stayed.

Yaw Penxe
Sanele Nohamba
Fez Mbatha
Rosko Specman
Wandisile Simelane
Lizo Gqoboka
Scarra Ntubeni
Dan du Preez
Jean-Luc du Preez
Coenie Oosthuizen

I'm surprised that the creatine  twins have been cut given that Vermeulen is still recovering and we don't have any decent back row cover. But the rest I'm not to worried about. Specmagic tried very hard, had some magic moments,  but still tried to much on his own

Yes, it's been obvious for a while that Rassie doesn't rate the du Preez twins. Personally I think he's missing a great opportunity here. I would have much preferred Dan at #8 to Kwagga.

I am surprised that Morne Steyn and Elton Jantjies a re not on the cut list yet.   I must admit that Erasmus is not the only one doing selections and that insofar as the two Du Preez's are concerned Jones would have played a role as well.    The latter is the real person evaluating club players in the UK Ireland and France and  he would have given a comprehensive report on the players that could influence selection of the foreign club players component.

I expect to see Goosen added to the squad soon and the other two flyhalfs sent packing after the first test.

Yes Dumb-Luc and the surrogate can consider themselves unlucky

Coenie is no longer international standard, and he has always had problems scrumming at tighthead.
For the rest, they should probably have been playing against the Lions for their franchises.

Sharkbok, I agree that most of the squad should have been playing for their franchises and probably would have given us better indication, but they were too afraid of the Covid break out.

I'm hating this lions tour, none of our franchises fronted up at all. I think the bulls were the only team to challenge them and  they did a great job with a completely new team

The Deysel twins have always been vastly overrated. Coenie was a great prop in every way, except he could never be relied on in the scrums. The rest are just quota players who should never have been there in the first place.

If you  think of the quality players that have been left abroad, one wonders what Rassie is thinking. Maybe he is too much into his 50% transformation target and just let the best guys play.

Jan Serfontein, Rohan Jansen van  rensberg, Jenkins etc are all players that would have made the teams stronger

Not even sure if Marce Coetzee is injured, but that is another  player with international experience who would have done better than kwagga

Yes Marcel Coetzee should be in the squad. One thing that counts against him is that he has been injury-prone at test level for some time now.

Foreign based players find it hard to make the team if they haven’t done so under the current coaches, while playing Domestic rugby.

It’s just the way it is. But this does appear to be a clear statement that the Deysel twins are not test material in the view of the Great Erasmus. Pervie’s laughable attempt to blame it all on somebody else is just another example of how facts aren’t accepted on this Board.

Once more, creatine is not an anabolic steroid.

Dan is good, and at 7 would improve the team immensely. Wasn't far off 2019 Thor.

Coenie hasn't been test material since 2014.

PSDT wipes the floor with either of the Dup-Twins.

Moronic Mozart

As per normal  you know zero about anything at all.   jones was specifically appointed and based in Ireland to liaise  with and monitor performances  of the SA players playing club rugby in the UK, Ireland and France and he reports to Nienaber as head coach.   Simultaneously he is the Attack Coach of the team.    The selection of foreign based players for the squad is  certainly based on the performance reports of Jones.

Facts never matter as far as you are concerned because you do not know facts.

Not retaining the du Preez twins is plain short sighted. They are easily amongst our best options as loosies. There are no stronger loosies in the game and they have added good touches playing for Sale Penxe is very good on the wing Nohamba is class at 9 Similane has huge attacking potential but lacks physicality Coenie is long past it Gqoboko is a very good prop Scara is not test material Orie is the worst squad selection but then again the squad lock selections have been poor outside the obvious 3

Coetzee is a good all-rounder and would have been the best like for like replacement for Vermuelen, and he can cover all positions in the backrow.

Perhaps Rassie just needs some more time to work with him, and hopefully he stays injury-free and picks up top form.Goosen might get a callup if there are injuries.

The picture kind of makes sense We have Willie starting at 15, with Fassi as backup On the wing we have Mapimpi and Kolbe as starters with Nkosi as back up. So out go Specman and Penxe At centre we have de Allende and Am with Frans Steyn as 12 back up and Jessie as back up 13 so out goes Similane At flyhalf we have Pollard and Jantjies as backup on the bench. A team always has a flyhalf on the bench so Morne is retained to cover the bench Same applies at 9, a team always has a bench 9, so Faf starts, with Jantjies as backup and Reinach as bench backup so out goes Nohamba A side always has a bench front row so we have Nche, Mbonambi and Nyakane starting with Kitshoff, Marx and Malherbe as the bench and Thomas, Dweba and Koch plus Wilco Louw as bench backups. So out goes Coenie and Scara At lock we always see a bench lock, the Boks sometimes have two locks on the bench. We have question marks over the fitness of Lood and RG so we see Etzebeth and Mostert starting with Lood on the bench, RG in cotton wool and Orie and v Rensburg as bench backups coveting 4 and 5 There is always one loosie on the bench. The starting trio are Kolisi, PSDT and Kwagga. Vermeulen is in cotton wool with Elstadt on the bench with Wiese the bench backup so out go the du Preez twins Willemse covers the utility role I get the rationale with most these calls other than Elstadt and Wiese being preferred to the du Preez twins - makes no sense at all. Similar players but the twins are even more physical We clearly fucked up the lock bench back up selections. Orie is utterly useless and while v Rensburg is solid there are far better options starting with Jason Jenkins

Puleeze….now it’s  Jones’ fault that the Deysel twins aren’t retained. The Great  Erasmus can’t look at tapes and make an informed judgement. He never coached the Deysels before?

Utter rubbish….you can lay this at Erasmus’ feet.

You claim that you were a top manager - yet you pretend that management does not depend on reports and advice from anybody with expertise in their respective fields?   That shows either that you are a liar or that you are lying in this case.    You make the choice.

The selections are NOT done solely by Erasmus - the coaching panel decide on selection - Erasmus  is made out to be a dictator.  Are you nuts as well?
