There is a very interesting and viral WhatsApp video going around about this weekend's game, which shows a penalty being awarded to the All Blacks at precisely 47.23 into the game.

The ref awards the penalty to the All Blacks, and as the ref turns away from the All Black kicker, the one All Black player deliberately kicks the ball about 2m away from himself and where the ref were standing when the penalty was awarded, to closer towards the posts, to "seemingly" put the ball in a better kicking position towards the posts.

Has anyone seen this footage, and if so, what is the ruling on this ?

Nope. Are you saying they deliberately changed the position of the penalty without anyone noticing?

Sounds extremely strange just saying it, but yes

In fact it is very blatantly done, when the ref turned away

I just wanted to know if anyone lese was aware of this video, and what the rule is regarding the placement of the penalty kick, because I have no idea

Maybe someone like Pakie can double check at that time of the game, I know he is well known for his video analysis

Not the best quality but you can check it out here. Pretty blatant and I'm surprised none of the Springbok players picked it up.

Haha, that's pretty cheeky. Ref fast asleep as well.

Normal conduct with the AB players it seems to me.   Normal in their case.  The ref was also asleep when it came to the knock-on before the penalty award.

This type of stuff should be penalised after the match, if it is not picked up during the match.
Very unsportsmanlike. If you look closely, you can see Mccaw on the sideline screaming to Barrett

Mike the fact the ref didn't pick up that knock-on COST US THE TEST!

There were also issues with the rucks and crooked thow-ins at the lineout by the wee abs.

Well, at least Beeno and I agree on that

How could we possibly contest some of those lineouts, the ball was thrown basically directly to the jumping All Black player on their throw in, on many occasions and I didn't once see them penalized for it.

Make no mistake, we were gifted a draw..... we could have played far far better than what we did, with all that possession and territory, especially in the first half, where we should have put more points on the board and won the game from there, but we didn't.

Having said that, surely this behavior by the All Blacks borders on a professional foul?

I am not bemoaning anything, including this All Blacks team...…..because I believe we cost ourselves this game, by doing nothing much with all that ball...…...but what I am getting at, is what happens when something like this happens in a WC semi or final and someone nudges that ball 2 meters ahead to get a better angle on the posts or to close the distance a bit...….. surely it's a professional foul?

I have new respect for rugby refs

Here are the different... and many..... rugby penalty laws...that a ref must decide on, in any split second during a game

Penalty Laws

Moer……. impressive stuff

Looks like blatant cheating...and it wasn't like the gain was that much...not worth it...bizarre...to the extreme....these cynical cheating should be dealt with much harsher...I'm sure Trad and Linda has a perfect excuse handy.
