When some of us said "lions", we were talking about the team that reached the Super Rugby final, don't know if you still remember them being the only SA actually giving a fight during the comp.

And (to be honest) the Cheetahs were just too good, there's no question about it. On top of that, nothing seemed to go right for Ackermann's men, terrible performance caused by a considerable amount of bad luck and the odd bounce of the ball.

And the Springboks are playing bad consistently, while the Lions(from the Currie Cup!) had only this one. Don't compare 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT levels please.

Wacky what did your first post call for but attention. Huh? Answer me that plank. Still I am relieved to hear it was all bad luck and massive pressure from the Mighty Cheetahs. Man do they come any thicker? This is all just variability. The Lions were the best S15 team this year because they were a settled team....no other SA franchize was. It had little to do with the quality of talent and only modestly to do with playing style. Case closed.

This could also be seen as a win for running rugby in South Africa- not just the Lions style of play that saw them get to the final of Super Rugby
The Lions may have gone on to win the Curry Cup (again)- but were unfortunate to draw the Cheetas in the semis. 
No other team could have put that scoreboard on the Lions.
The Cheetas have been a good attacking team for sometime in SuperXV- but were poor in SX this year- perhaps due to a mass exodus of players.
 The defence has allways been an issue for them- and they concede as many as the scored.

You obviously do not see man names their of players supported by members for the Springbok team selection.

As SB said the style of rugby played by th two teams were very much similar - but the Cheetahs was way better in execution.   It was not the BS you want SA teams to play.  

Two questions -
*   have you actually watched the game?*   why do you persistently insist on making a fool of yourself? 


 

Er yes I did see the team. The Lions faced the same issue other teams did last year, they gave up some starters to the Boks. And did they do any better? Nope. It seems their CC win had more to do with no Bok player losses....not their vaunted coaching staff or playing style. This flop for an Ackerman coached side follows the humiliation against the Pom B side .....oh yes, lets have more of that. Hahaha.

What type of coach is that if he couldn't even pick his own players? The funny thing is, they were starting to get better, but was all too late.

And boohoo for your settled teams; that's poor management by the other teams, not the Lion's problem.

 So now the attack is on Ackermann - but you have refused to answer two crucial questions I asked above?   The fact is you cannot read either - the Cheetahs used running rugby - not the BS  you always wants teams to play.   The Cheetahs under Franco Smith has fine-tuned their game plan and sharpened  their defense.  
They are not playing the BS game you advocate and Ackerman is still ten times the coach Meyer will ever be ad 100 times better than your beloved Coetzee = whom you claim not to like, but defend at every turn.     

Oh I see it was poor management when teams were poor in the CC because players were committed to the Boks. Okay I guess we will just have to add poor management to the list of things which contributed to today's Lions' humilation.

If you watched closely the Currie Cup, the Lions have been playing pretty well (even without Kriel, Faf, Whiteley , Tecklenburg, Mapoe, Marx, Jantjes, Redelenghuis)...so no. No bad management...just top quality opposition.

 They were basically missing the spine of the team: the whole backrow and the 9/10 combination...with a few front rowers, a lock and a center.

Well that's a classic. The Cheetahs are 38 points better than the Lions and that's only because the Cheetahs are so great. Nope this is all disinformation, the normal ebb and flow of South African franchizes. Today, the Super Final, the A team whitewash all told their story....the coaching is not in a different league, the playing style can be neutered and as we saw in the tests the Lions players are very marginal. This myth ended sooner than I thought it would.

So you're basically saying that the Lions and the Cheetahs should be ignored, and let "true Springbok rugby" to unfold.



1.  Neutered? HA! Not with Coetzee in charge;
2.  Marginal? Faf won you that match against Ireland for f*** sake! And they've been forced to conform to a gameplan that has no soul;
