Seems the momentum is gathering for the return of the Cats, rather than relegating either the Cheetahs or the Lions. That would be fine with me.....but better if the that happened, that the Kings were cancelled..... and we played the S12 again, where every game is more meaningful.
A Cat with two lives?
They had better make sure that they do not fatally wound the Lions or Cheethas as they will be needed once the queens make themselves a laughing stock. The Lions need all the cash they can get.
But in the end when they renegotiate, SARFU will ask for 6 regions for SA. NZ will then also want 6 and so will Oz!
If they push through with this, it would impact three S15 teams. The Kings are going to be nobodies and the laughing stock. The Lions and the Cheetahs together will.........................again.............. not work.
Agreed Moz, all the sides playing eachother is a far better format.
Cera, if the Cats do not work, that will be down to the players not embracing the concept as they should be a side that has the ingredients to put up a better challenege than the Cheetahs or Lions individually
Saf, the problem is that typically of SARU, they are draggimg their heels again. There are a lot to be put in place, i.e. the merging of the coaching staff, the manageing staff, player contracts to be sorted out. This is easier said than done. Two companies have to basically merge, staff will have to be reduced, because there will obviously be duplications. The HQ will have to be sorted out. Obviously they would want to maintain both Coke park and Bloen stadiums, so they would have to budget to maintain two such stadiums, and that while the Cheetahs is not one of the wealthiest franchises as it is. They are going to sink the Cheetahs finacially as well.
In addition to all the above crap, they will have to have most of the above sorted after the 2012 season, before they can start with their preparations for the 2013 season. So, in additon to the financial constraints as well as the logistical intricacies, they will be starting the 2013 season way behind the other franchises in the competition.
It goes way beyond the attitude of the players.
Agreed it does go beyond just the players, but at the end of the day when one gets down to the nuts and bolts its about those 22 players and the 90 odd minutes on the park. The players and staff can either embrace the idea and take on the challenge and make a success of the campaign or they can fight it and sink their position even further.
