I had a terrible day today - reason I had to go to the Licencing Department to get my drivers licence renewed. It was almost as bad as watching McCaw playing the bad rugby he plays nowadays.
Got to the licencing Department. Entered the queue and was then told I must get a Green form and fill it in. Now where do I get the Green Form? No - not in this building - you have to go to another building on site to get that one. Now off to the other building. Back in a queue. At last I got the Green form and filled it in. Now back to the first queue - this time twice as long. After three hours they attended to me. Now for the really harse one. My fingerprints are not registered on their computer. The apparatus malfunctioned and after 30 minutes they got the prints registered. Back to the payment window - short queue this time around. No she cannot accept the payment - I must take all the documents back to the other building and ask them to attend to the fingerprint issue first. The lady to deal with it is absent and I waited and waited - she was sitting outside in the sun. Then she took the forms and said I must wait 30 minutes because she has to get approval from Pietermaitzburg to accept the fingerprints.
I had enough of that crowd - so I decided to go to the Home Affairs office for an Identity Book replacement - my domestic worker put mine in the washing machine and it was not usable anymore. Got there and this time the queue was massive. I decided to throw in the towel - go back to the Licence Department and get the Bloody f#cking green form and pay for the replacement licce. Got back to the other office and asked whether everything is now in order. Waited and waited and waited - at last got the Green form back - and voila - money accepted and receipt issued within 5 minutes.
I postponed the ID book replacement indefinitely.
Just one question - is the Public Service as useless in other countries as they are here? Is mankind cursed throughout - or is it confined to sunny South Africa?
One has to look at the bright side of life as well - it was not as bad as -
* all the rubbish written by Mozart and Sun Tzu on this site about Morn Steyn, Francois Steyn and JJ Engelbrecht combined;
* Beeno tryng to educate the Kiwis to about rugby; and
* Mozart's dramatic injury reports on Goosen after each game the Cheetahs playe din Super 15 this year.
