A draw is an improvement on the performance last year - but it should have been awin if

The waste of talent was not in the face of the Springboks.  Lets firwt look at the rating of the players as I see uit:-

Kitshoff is the only bench player to be rated - a 7 without any question marks.
I think that Skosan deserves further chance despite his weakness under high balls.  Rhule was on the field and that as near as bugger-all during the game.   A call-up to Combrinck is an essential.   The kicking game poorly executed was too evident and that led to constant disaster for the Springboks.
Did Cassiem in fact play?  He must have been - but vanished from sight and I can say he did play because the only time he touched the ball he knocked it on.   Time for an emergency call-up to Coetzee to come to the aid of the team.
The centers were iffy and that could be improved - I would think of Van Rensburg as Vorster as options.    However that is very unlikely to happen.
Jantjies and Cronje played a stupid game.  they comnstamntly kicked balls straight at Folau - - the best high ball player in the world.   Jantjies also made a horrible mistake - not finding touch with a penalty kick at line.   
          

Nah, Kriel and Kolisi deserve higher than 6, 7/8 for both. 

Beast a 6. Kitshoff was better, but why did beast deserve a 5 in a strong scrum?

 Agreed Deddy. Beast was at least a 7 though.

I have adjusted the ratings of Beast.  Kriel and Kolisi as suggested.The stats ioin fact conforms my ratings.
In view of your comments I have adjusted Du Toit to 9 - he was by some the best performer for the Springboks today   

Both Jaco Kriel and Kolisi have become international test standard loosies in the absence of Whitely. When Whitely returns this could be the fastest back row ever fielded by the Boks.
Whitely was poor when playing under the kick and chase Springboks, but has been much better in an open game plan.  The like of Alberts would not keep pace with the current back row .

 I had to laugh about another comment on site.   Over the last 5 away games before 2017 against Australia the result indicated the following:-
Losses   -    4Wins      -    1
My argument was that I raised abo9ve was a comparative to the 2016 lost test and whether there was in fact an improvement in performance since last year.
However, since a polluter broadened the scope to cover all tests since 2012 the situation has changed to whether the team showed improvement on the atrocious in away test record since 2912.
The situation is clear - there was factual improvement by the draw on the poor record of the Springboks under Meyer.   Meyer was bad - Toetsie only slightly more so.   However, Meyer had no real support by understudies - Toetsie was forced to get stronger support staff and it will be further strengthened by the appointment of Erasmus.
