I like the look of Wessels. He gets stuck in and is very mobile. However to me his future could be at hooker. He is another Marx maybe better.

Also thought Boan Venter did a good job for the Boks. He is a hard working loose head that gets stuck in

There are a lot of loosies I would like to see in the Bok mix and getting chances. Injured players like Cameron Hanekom and Elrigh Louw Then there in Vincent Tshituk a and Evan Roos who should also get a shot.

To me Hanekom is most needed at 6.

I would to see this backline in action

Van Der Berg, Libok,

Willemse, Moody

Grant Williams, Kolbe and Sascha at 15.

I saw a You Tube video suggesting Williams is the fastest player in World rugby. He has great footwork and if course superb passing skills. Put on the wing his runnung ability has more chance to shine. He is of course a very good scrummie.

Sascha has shown his ability to break a line at fly half what could he achieve a 15?

Willemse is most dangerous at inside center.

I think this backline maximises our attacking threat. Defensively we would have to see. Should be good enough.

If Bulls prop Steenekamp gets back to form our loose head props of Ox, Boan and Steenekamp look fine.

It would be nice to have a young tight head to pick. Dave any ideas. Ditto a young lock.

Lastly re Kolbe, I think he is being overplayed.

I think yesterday was a good game to judge players, who folded under pressure and who exceeded.

Sasha did a solid job but still made some rookie mistakes. That pass out wide when he broke the line when he should have just held on or pass inside. But did better than expected.

For the life of me, Manie really frustrates me. Against the All Blacks he came on and just destroyed the all blacks. I guess when the pack is working and the defence is not so tight he becomes effective, but then like we saw in Ellis Park when he started at 10, we broke out in 20 min but then he lost his head by throwing wild passes and Australia over turned a 20 deficit and it just got worse. Manie kept trying to force the game and it imploded. Then he came on yesterday, game in the bag, but he tried to go full out attack. Hated tackling and then just couldn’t control the game. The same for Williams, the last two minutes we couldn’t control the game, what about spreading the ball or instead of being passive trying to run down the clock, try get over the advantage line. Put them on the back foot.

Then Wessels giving away penalties for scrum and late tackle.

The real game breakers are players like Ox, he came on in the semi final, a game we were losing and then his first play destroy the scrum. How many penalties did we get from him for his brilliant scrummaging. Pollard did the rest.

there are just some players that don’t have that game breaking ability or those that can lose the game out.

Bongi is another one that can’t close out. Perhaps Jan Hendrix can be a super hooker.

Agree that some silly errors cost us. The game should not have been that close.

Leave Williams at 9 he is the quickest in the squad but we don’t need him on the wing

Sacha has to stay at 10 it’s non negotiable

Willemse at 12

13 is up for grabs with some hot candidates there - Moodie, Hooker (more a 12), Jurenzo Julius and Henco v Wyk

15 has to be Fassi with Jordan Hendrikse as his back up

Wessels looks the ideal player to replace Marx at 2 with the benefit of doubling up as a loosehead

Young tightheads I like are Sharks - Hanro Jacobs, Bulls - Frans Klopper and Stormers Zac Porthen who was last years Baby Bok captain

Best young lock is JF v Heerden of the Bulls, he is only 20

There are a handful of really good 27 year old locks in Ruan Vermaak and Cobus Wiese of the Bulls and Andre Smith and Ruben v Heerden of the Stormers. I like young Corne Rahl of the Sharks as well - if he can stay injury free. Next big thing at lock will be SA schools, Grey Bloem lock AJ Meyer - signed by Stormers

We have played three very flawed teams in the RC and scraped through by the paint on the upright. Would we have beaten this Bargie team if we played them at home? Once again we have had a venue advantage Let’s see how we go against Ireland and France.

As far as the players are concerned, Wessels can’t scrum at loosehead….we saw it again yesterday. Moodie is struggling to be relevant at center. Hooker is a fine player but probably more suited to center. Edwill was the find of the season.

The real revelation again was the Manie/Sacha difference. Sacha made a 100 metres and beat 5 defenders, no other Bok beat more than one. He won the game for us. Manie came on and launched a couple of clueless cross field kicks, when we needed to secure territory and shut down the game.

Anybody who thinks we should waste Sacha at 15 and play Manie at 10 is truly clueless.

Mozzietard I am not definitively wanting to move these two players to wing and Fullback. However I reckon it's worthwhile experimenting to see how they go.

The idea was to get our most attacking players on the park.

Whooooosh. Simple concepts Mozzie can't quite grasp.

Dumb Idea…Manie keeps showing us he is a test loser. He was doing his best to lose the championship yesterday but he didn’t have enough time. When you have a new superstar like Sacha you allow him to settle and develop.

But I do like the idea of Willemse at 12, because that means we don’t have Dud Allende at 12. Classically at 12 yesterday Dud had 9 runs and never beat a tackle.

Stick with moz, keeping it real.

We need Willemse's dancing shoes at inside center. He and Sasha could be combining at test level to be the starting combination for key matches. Manie is good, but more on the hard fast pitches.

It might have been the first time Sasha played in the gale force winds over 70kms, the conditions at Twickenham yesterday.

What a load of predictable rubbish - so now the opposition are flawed, we would not have beaten the Argies at home - fuck off. So fucking childish

Wessels can’t scrum at loosehead - fuck me what rugby do you actually watch huh? He dominated every scrum he was involved in if memory serves me correctly. The only one they lost was against Wilco surprisingly. Seriously what rugby do you watch

Moodie at 13 will work he is gifted - you don’t ditch a player after 3 tests for crying out loud. Certainly more gifted than Jessie Kriel

Manie keeps proving all the clowns wrong

So it’s luck and crap opposition hey - what a fucking joke

Here is a wake up call - we have a great squad of players coached by the best coach we have ever had

The AB’s are a good side as they always are. Oz are back, the Argies, Scotland, Ireland, Italy and France are the best they have ever been. The Poms are always good. So stop speaking through your arse about how weak the opposition are

Why not grow a pair and admit you have been pathetically wrong about Rassie, that way you might just save yourself further embarrassment?

Porker swearing away ….denying the obvious. NZ are a shadow of their great teams…..Oz are pathetically thin in resources, when Skelton left yesterday their chances went with him. And Bargie has such a weak scrum they are significantly handicapped.. And last year they beat us at home, even though the game in RSA was an even bigger defeat. This year they never played us at home.

Have some ice cream you angry old fatty.

Winning depends on:

1 The strength of your team

2 The strength of your opponents

3 Your coaches.

Without 1 and 2 being in your favor, forget about it. Just ask Razor who won everything with the Crusaders and is failing with the weak AB team he inherited,

Go Japan you beauties!

"The AB’s are a good side as they always are."

...and then asks what rugby we watch?

1) Lost to Argentina away from home.

2) Lost to Argentina in NZ

3) Got hammered at Twickers by the Boks

4) Record defeat in NZ to the Boks

5) Lost to France in the 3rd place game of the WC

Most pundits in NZ are seriously concerned about their depth, club competition, administrative body and high performance system.

But sure, Dawie, these ABs would give Carter's a run for their money.

Mozart never undestood the fact that since 2000 we had some of the worst coaches inm the history of Springbok rugby history. His heroes as coaches were White and Meyer. How bad was White - th anser is simple -

  1. he ahd no game palns wever - for h im bashing up with the fowards and 10 man rugby = not the remoclue about backline play;
  2. Other then winning the tri-nations om 2004 - when each of the teams won 2 of the 6 matches played - the Springboks won on point difference - a really pathetic win and then the RWC in 2007 by playing no teams ranked higher than the Spring boks and a pathetic over-aged England in the final - totally incapable of winning the final based on stupid giveing away penalties by the Englsh elderly - Whit enver won any final in any tournament;
  3. Got fired effecvely by SARU as Springbok coach - by the Sharks, Montpellier and the Bulls bcause of the same reasons

I any event the reasons for firing were -

  1. total absence of any game plan catering for backline attacking play and imited rugby to 10 man rugby - which Mozart defended a "Traditional Springbok Rugby" - a BS idea - since there never such a tradition;
  2. None of the players in the 2007 RWC squad ever had any kind words of White as a coach - bar Fat Fansie Steyn when White was coaching the Sharks - where he had his favorites and treated the rest of the tream like shit - with the result that it caused discord in the teams he coached and 16 players contracted by the Sharks refused to sign reenwal contracts;
  3. In the case of the Bulls his understudies refused to talk to him and refused to jin him in teh coaching area at matches and the payers complaing of him as a clueless coach treating them like shit,

He was followd as coah by De Villiers who was a brainfart as a coach and he layers decide on a game plan and in the end he was so bad and the team so demoralized that they did not get passt the quarterfinals, Fired in 2011 after the RWC, After that nobody - even n school teams wanted him as a coach.

Mozart admired Meyer because his only has one idea and that was for the scummie and flyhalf to kick the shit out of the balls and had zero else to offer. He was effectually fired by SARU - after which he was fired by the woener of the Stade Francais Club because he ws t hrough stupid squad and team selection and no real game plan was destroying the club from within. On the same plane back to SA were two of his star selectiosn Alberts and Morne Steyn.

Coetzee was no rugb coach at all - he wa fored b SARu after two years and went to coach a apan team and was fored for the exact same reasons as was the case of Meyer,

There is one thing that the AB's had with their coaches was they were really good for two decades. They were well-planned game plans and implementation - while S A had four very poor coaches in a row. The probem with New Zaland represent a number of reasons - the main one being New Zealand canceleld Super Rugby and the replace it with a Pacific Islands teams. No real opposition to NZ clubs and they ost their sense of sharpness,

Rugby was the main pride of New Zealand rugby - but the culture in New Zealand and national pride lost its attraction. Under these conditions their feeder system from schools to Uder 20 rugby got weaker/ So NZ rugby got weaker than it used to be - but they stll win the majority of tests they play in.

The fact is in team-sport top class coaching determine the outcome of test matches, Coaches develop proper game plans and train the team to execute that game plan. They study the strength and weaknesses of opposition teams and cpach their teams in exploiting weaknesses and are trained to defnd against strengths.

The fact is top class coaching develop top class teams to a stage where they have a winning culture and that is what Erasmus excells in. Like all other human beings he made some selection mistakes mainly because he may be too loyal to some players like Willie who failed miserably in the last test he played in. He is strict as well - I would not have liked it t be in the same room as Erasmus and Kolbe after the last test. He would have read Kolbe the riot act - deservedly so. But Kolbe will learn from that talks amd improve his game or end up being out of the team if he faied to do so.

The S pring boks used to ah ve a few quota players around - but not to the level it reached under Erasmus. - Erasmus removed the quota cuture that reigned supreme before In theend the Springboks nowe has a huge feeder base and the suppot of all races in South Africa, In such a scenario coaching is paramount amd that s why Ersmus the best coach the Springboks ever had,

.

A belated congratulations to the Boks for taking out the RC again. Can’t believe they’d never gone back to back before in that competition. Thoroughly deserved being the best of the 4 nations in 2025.

Couple of questions. How did Moodie get away with not being double yellowed with that one handed interception attempt? Unbelievable!

Secondly, I’m just watching the game now for the first time. Marx has just scored in the corner with Reinsch’s assistance. The slow motion replay shows Reinach’s hand momentarily on the ball along with Marx’s assistance as they approach the goal line. The trouble is Reinach is in touch whilst in contact with the ball!

Shouldn’t the TMO have overruled the try in favour of an Argies’ lineout??

Thoughts??

Moodie got lucky...didn't see Reinach touching the ball while in touch...would have been very technical and it had to be a 100% sure thing to overturned a try for that...

Paardi has to be the worst ref on the scene right now. Some of his URC performances last season were a disgrace to anyone with eyes.

Regarding Moodie; granted I only saw it once, but his initial yellow card should not have been a card at all. Moodie's head went backwards because the Argies forearm hit him in the chest...so it looked like head contact, but their heads never touched.

Moodie was lucky to get away with the slap down, but since I think the first card was bogus, I believe the two bad decisions cancel each other out.

Didn't see the Reinach incident.

It was the same issue with Piardi in the first Oz/AB game though.

His one good call this past weekend was warning Argentina that he'd penalise them if they intentionally gave away a free kick at the scrum. I couldn't believe my ears.

The guy is a tool and the refs/TMOs have started the URC season with some major clangers as well.

I don’t think the TMO even noticed the incident Draad as Marx was the only one in possession when the try was scored. Otherwise surely he would have told Piardi he was taking a look at it.

Reinach does seem to be in touch while touching the ball. I didn't spot the touch during the live viewing, but I was wondering at the time what the hell he was trying to do. Good spot, Moolaa.

I don't know Plum, Argie's head snapped back pretty sharply after the moment where there would have been head impact if any. That can't be explained by the forearm.
