Yeah well they do...Oz has some many flies...you find them in the rain forest,the deserts,sheep and cattle areas obviously and fruit flies abound in Western Australia and other fruit growing areas...something that would drive me crazy...I love the outdoors and and the bushveld in SA (plenty flies too) but Oz is another story...there was an Ozzie cricketer that was called Fruitfly , was it Shane Warne? cannot remember...I wonder if they have a fly problem on the sporting fields...ironically except for Sydney it is a clean place not like SA where plastic bags and bottles choke our natural resources and beauty.

I'm sure Steve Irvin could handle Sharks and he did dive a lot off the coast in the east and north...sadly as we all know a docile ray killed him...a real freak accident...well he died doing what he loved most...Steve also enjoyed his footy as well as rules and league...don't see unselfish people that give to the world so much and take nothing in return...huge natural bush been donated by a trust formed from his coppers...I think his daughter is involved...Bindi,I think...also good surfer.

Moz: steve had a good turn of phrase but he was right though. I bought and ice cream when I was in Australia once and before I could take a lick there was a fly in it and a few more on the way, lol
The ozzie salute is a wave of your hands to keep the swarming flies away.

 When I  first started shearing in Oz back in the 70s the flies would drive ya nuts ! CSIRO helped developed methods to keep the numbers down but strangely you saw comparatively few flies inside a shearing shed .Fly blown sheep are a problem ,lots of cockies used to mules them [ strip the wrinkles from their backside ] but copped a lot of flak for it ,one bloke dumped a load of maggoty sheep outside a radio station in protest .
