A happy camp is a winning camp
A winning camp is a happy camp.
its true - good culture is a winning culture... exact opposite also true... wont mention the gold again I've been red carded... lol
@Red,
Wallabies need a complete overhaul. Keeping Cheika was certainly a mistake. Instead of appointing a rugby director, the could have got the mercenary Jake White to do a hatchet job.
If Jake White had been given a chance even 12 months ago, he would have fixed the rabble also known as the Wallaby tight five, even if it meant he had to scour club rugby in Australia, or even convert one of slower backs into a forward.
White was great at the Brumbies, especially having Larkham as his backline coach. Jake would have addresses the current weaknesses in Wallaby rugby. Tactical kicking and an exit strategy on defence. Even after Jake White went to the Sharks and played the Brumbies, it was clear they were still using much of what they learnt during Jake's 2 years.
The Wallaby backline is powerful, but the team was playing the wrong tactics. All the commentators on Sky were saying that Cheika does not appear to understand test rugby. Running from your 22 and not having an exit strategy leads to easy turnovers. If the Wallabies backs got good ball, they would probably break more tackles and tight defences than any team.
While the Boks are overdoing the box kick, one spect they are trying to avoid is playing rugby in the area of the field where a mistake means conceding points. It can be more boring but it is percentage rugby.
In the loss against England, Wallabies mistakes lost the game, more than England winning it.
Having the Folau fiasco during a world cup year was not ideal. While rugby Australia could have handled this better, it is clear that Rugby League doesn't want the type of liability he offers, and Tonga amongst others have told him to he is blocked So if Folau was still in League or Ozzie Rules, he may have faced the same problem...
Folau's brand is finished, and he is unemployable at this stage. As a backline player over 30, he will soon lose his pace, so his time is limited. I think the only way that Folau would be employed again is if he retracts his statements, and agree to not talk about religion online, and wait for the end of his sports career, instead of using his Sport and employer as a platform.
Thanks Shark - I appreciate your insight. And agree...
Every rugby Aussie fan (the very few number of us) have all said the same thing... DUMB DUMB rugby - everyone happy Cheik gone... mind you onto Montpellier as Director of Rugby (tell me thats not a killer gig...!!?) - I think he maintains the respect of the broader rugby community its just time for a change now... Perth this year and Waratah S15 championship would be his highlights from stint in Australia.
Life is full of coulda / shoulda / woulda moments... but from the Folau saga on I knew Wobs were never in this RWC... in fact from the moment the ARU employed the ugly kiwi tranny goth Raeleen I knew there were bad days ahead.... hopefully these times create a bit of resilience and rugby in Aust can get back to where it should be.
All the radio talkback / foxsports news is that ARU needs a cleanout - properly cleaned out (board / CEO / coaching etc) - they have big $$ budgets and point was made when Aussies were world beaters... they did it on very little $$....
The fact the aussies started a RWC year without a kicker / fly half of any note is damning. I said it months ago JOC or Toomua would have been my choice at 10...
Anyway now can sit back as a neutral backing anyone but kiwis to win this RWC....
Actually in this order: Go Boks / Poms / Welsh........................................................................ unmentionable....................
Tend to agree with Sharkok. The Wallabies don't have the cattle to play Wallaby rugby and Jake would have realised that and cut his cloth to the material in hand. Boring as watching grass grow but winning rugby that's for sure. He did it with the Boks and the same again with the Brumbies, tried it with the Sharks but the players revolted. He introduced the rolling maul into the Brumbies's game and look they're still using it.......when knocked by the media for using it, the coach told them where to go in a not so nice way. Problem is the Ozzie rugby fan expects the Wallabies to play running rugby no matter what and they don't understand kicking as a big part of the game and then when the team fails as they did under Cheika then they scream for the coach's blood. The major problem lies in the lack of good quality forwards and the other problem lies in the style of play. The Wallaby backline would be fine if they had a good kicking flyhalf and a good pack.
Good on ya Saffex - voice of logic I agree...
Tell me you on the poms or kiwis?
You seem closer to NH teams etc - do you think poms will do it?
Carrot you sound desperate. Everybody knows soutnaftcians lose with a big smile on their faces. It's okay to know your place and not be depressed about it. Carrots like you belong in the ground never to be seen. Hahaha!
probably none, because the Wallaby tight five is useless. It is probably the only reason that Cheika was able to remain in the job- as he had some excuse. It is the worst Wallaby results in 30 years, why else would Cheika be able to hold on for so long...
Australia has a very good backline, with solid centres and wingers.

Rodda would get into Bokkies team. Can't think of anyting else but you have to say that they somehow punch above their weight most times. You think thryll crack and then thru somehow G et one over on you. Like scrumming. Your fatties get neutralised by the weak wobblies waaaay too often! Milk your tits for penalties. Hahahaha!
Rory / Rodda / Latu / Tupou would make any NH team 23 in a heart beat.
Latu would make AB 23 before Coles and Rory would make all teams off the bench - rory would get starting in place of courtney lawes for poms...
