A straight question.....

to those of you who believe that the Proteas is made up of quota players. Let's be clear on this by naming the white player who should be playing instead of the POC. I'm stripping out the players of colour, please put the name of the alternative merit player who is being denied a place in the team .

 Denny, I think JPD is lucky to still be in the team. I'm glad he saved a good knock for when we needed it dearly, but he has been poor in tests for quite some time. Bavuma? I'm not sold yet, but he has shown some grit now and in the past. Maharaja? Too soon to really say. Not a waste of space, but had he been white and Abbot POC, Abbot would have played in this test.

 PS, Amla and Kagiso would have been in my purely merited team regardless of ethnicity...Philander too...back when Gazza first gave Vern his chance, everybody yelled Q...and he proved all wrong.But it is wrong for us to even have this discussion...race should have NO impact on ellections. Sad that it does.

Not sure where to start with a response on this one. Thing is this, when it was announced that the team would have a minimum of 6POC's everyone went ballistic.The other thing is that had this team lost then that same lot would have been screaming and shrieking....Quotas!!!
In principle I'm against any form of racism and it's a sad state of affairs whereby selections are enforced based on pigmentation of skin. It sh!ts me bigtime!
However, I'm of the opinion and happily so that the team is a fair team, that it's based on ability and that no white player has been denied a spot based on the quota.
Noticeably, no-one has suggested a white player who has been denied his rightful position in the column I've left blank in my original post.
About the only player mentioned was Kyle Abbott. The reality is that Abbott being a Quick would be competing with Philander or Rabada and besides the selectors went with a Spinner to balance the attack. Any talk that Abbott was denied a spot based on race ...in that team composition....is absolute hogwash.
